Filled out all forms ok - 11 errors at review all where the same about amortization on a sold business. issue was coding on depreciation work sheet. "check entry" form 4562 depreciation option asset entry worksheet (asset name) grose sales price, asset should be blank. based on your entry for amortization code section, this intangibles that are not on the asset entry worksheet. see tax helper for specific instruction. Help had no answer in help section. had to wing it. had to change coding in depreciation, I think it worked, but I`m just winging it. and please get the state returns set up for the future. thank you.
What's great about it: Easy answer questions for S Corp
What's not so great: No Idaho State program, and error message
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have to file a trust return as fiduciary for an uncomplicated complex trust. I have usually filled out this return manually, but have tried software every few years. If I had to file several trust and/or business returns I might consider this software again, but for what it costs, Turbotax Business is not worth it to me for filing a single return (perhaps it could be offered online for a single return filer). As an old school Unix user, I am not impressed with lots of graphics, pictures and little happy/glad messages. I hope some people do like these things because the software has lots of them.
What's great about it: I accomplished my goal of filing a Trust return
What's not so great: Too expensive for only needing to file one Trust return

Not what I have come to expect. I have used Turbo Tax from many years (18 saved) and this is the first year there were major issues. It did not correctly transfer my company Quick Books files.
What's great about it: Complete except for the company transfer
What's not so great: Did not transfer Quick Books company properly

More difficult this year

I used Turbo Tax for the past several years to do taxes for my deceased mother's trust, which owned a rental property. The trust sold the property this year. When I used Turbo Tax to do the final trust tax return, it was more confusing than ever, and I had a hard time making sure I was entering data correctly. I finally got it done, but not until after suffering a lot of heartburn and confusion. I wish Turbo Tax program had the ability to guide the preparer more thoroughly in the situation I was in.
What's great about it: Better than doing taxes by hand
What's not so great: fewer explanations than in past

Worse than last year

I've used TurboTax for my business since it began in 2012. This was the first year was so defective that I had to manually enter calculations. It took in all of the assets properly, as in years before, but it did not calculate the Total Assets, so it kept telling me later that my Total Asset entry was zero, which led to all kinds of mischief in calculating other parts of the Balance Sheet. I finally had to manually add up the assets and go to the form to enter it. Also, when the forms printed out for the state tax filing (which cannot be done by efiling, it kept trying to print the federal tax form, too, and it printed multiple copies, even though I directed Adobe pdf to do only one. It also printed the forms with part of the right margin off the page. All of this needs to be fixed. Seriously, I am considering moving to another vendor's tax software next year.
What's great about it: Efficiently leads preparer
What's not so great: Numbers and calculations missing

I have been using Turbo Tax for a number of years. I use Turbo Tax for my personal and now my husbands LLC taxes. It is so easy to use and normally, I can find all of the answers to my questions within turbo tax. There has been a couple of times when I needed to call for more info. Everyone is really helpful. The community is also a wealth of info. Normally, I can find my question and the answers easily.
What's great about it: Easy to Understand
What's not so great: Nothing
