I use TT every year. It keeps old info needed on the current return. Their website tries to get you to buy more than you need. The program shows pictures of grinning people who have nothing to do with my return; I feel that they are patronizing me as if I were a kindergartener. Please treat me with the respect due an adult. After all, I am doing a tax return. Even this form wants my photo. How is that relevant? They are patronizing me, but I am not amused. Maybe next year I will do a paper return.
What's great about it: It guides me. It brings forward last years info.
What's not so great: Patronizing
Pros: I moved

K1 Forms confusing
on March 10, 2018

K1 forms from investment Box 13 and Box 20 list T1, T2, T3 etc....the TurboTax boxes should match those or have annotations that match. A 'best guess' approach leads to errors.
What's not so great: Forms don't match those received

I've been using turbo Tax since the 1980's (when I was doing my taxes on a Commodore 64 [!]). It has always tax preparation an relatively easy chore. I won't even think of trying anything else.
What's great about it: I liked the step-by-step guidance
What's not so great: None
Pros: I moved

Still waiting for paste to work from Excel

I an a landlord with about 15 rental properties. I do my initial analysis by exporting from Quicken 2000 to a tab-delimited text file. I import this into Excel. I sort by property name, then go through all items to ensure that the tax categories are correct. Income is easy, but expenses typically run to 800-900 items. TurboTax will not allow a direct copy/paste from an Excel cell - you have to Copy, then Paste Special Text to a new cell, then copy from the edit line, then paste to Turbo Tax. This is a MAJOR inconvenience. Also, the latest version has changed the supporting details interface - you have to guess whether there are supporting details, then right click, select "Add supporting details", even though a details entry is already present. Both of these problems should be easy to fix for a real programmer!
What's great about it: It works
What's not so great: Several areas of lazy programming

I do my taxes over a period of time. Every time I starts a section I had to start over from the beginning opening page instead of the program going back to the section I was at when I stopped.
What's great about it: Simple to use
What's not so great: Had to start over each time.
