I actually have a very nice grain mill. It does a fantastic job when I want to grind large batches of grain. I purchased this for those times that I just wanted to do a small batch. It's perfect for grains that I don't keep a lot of. It won't grind it to the consistency of my larger mill but it gets it pretty darn close... close enough that I am still rating this with five stars!

This was purchased to mix dry grains when needed. The first food item I made was peanut butter using peanuts only. It mixed the peanuts into a nice smooth blend. The peanut butter was used by our grandchildren who found it delicious without any additives.

I use it to grind grains for bread, so amazing! Does a significantly better job then my old none vitamix blender. I don’t even have to sift because it does such a great job. Highly recommend if you want to grind your own grains

I bought the Dry Grains container to chop the left over almond pulp after making almond milk. I tried using the wet container but the results weren't a fine enough blend. The dry container is specifically designed to push the dry ingredients into the blade for a much finder chop. Works great!

Acorn pancakes (project with grandson)

I wanted to help my grandson make acorn pancakes which he read about in the book "My Side of the Mountain". He has talked about them for several months and since it is now fall, I decided to help him make them. We collected the acorns from a local oak tree and then took the hulls off. We let them dry for 2 days before using the Vitamix Dry Grains Container to make them into flour. I used a pulse setting to chop them up and then blended on high (8) for another 30 seconds or so. This made a fairly fine flour. We then put the flour into a large bowl and covered it with about 3 inches of water, starting the process of to leach out the tannins from the flour. For 3 nights, each morning, we poured off the water and replaced it, stirring the mixture a few times each day. On the 3rd day, the flour mixture, still wet, had a nice nutty flavor without the bitterness of tannins. We used it in a standard sourdough, whole-wheat pancake recipe. We replaced 1/2 of the flour with acorn flour. The pancakes were tasty (just like in the book) and we all enjoyed them.

Its not different from the regular container. I tested it by blending rice. The blending quality is pretty much the same. It's not worth the price. I had to return it.
This dry container that fits on the new Vitamix machine does not do nearly as well at grinding my flour as the old did. The old flour was fine and fluffy. The new ground flour is course and dense.
