Great phone overall, except for the screen

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I like this phone and all of the features it has. The back cameras are excellent and the DAC is a fantastic addition. I will say if you are a selfie taker then the front camera will leave you disappointed, however I often find myself using rear cameras for all of my uses. The performance is on par for a flagship model phone with no noticeable lag. The build quality feels rock solid and not too fragile.
My biggest complaint is the picture quality of the screen at lower brightness (around 30% or lower). It has a hard time correctly displaying darker gradients like grays and colors close to black, often showing uneven coloring. For daily use it is not a major issue, but when I am watching a video or using an app with darker themes it is painfully noticeable. I am not sure if it is because I got a model close to day one, but hopefully later LG OLED screens will work out this issue.
I would honestly probably give this a 3.5 star review if possible, but the poor front camera has no real downside to my daily use so I rounded up.

My favorite phone so far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've always preferred android phones, but never enjoyed Samsung, or any other android phone. Samsung's designs are corny and ugly. My first LG was the G2 and since then I've loved LG phones. I love the sleek designs, the numerous useful features, and the functionality. LG has always been ahead of the game.
Pros: Style/Design, Features/Settings, Performance, Quality, easy to use

Amazing Phone With Some Slight Issues
on November 17, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While looking for a new smartphone to replace my two-year-old flip phone, my eye caught sight of the LG V30. Seeing that it was a buy one get one deal at the AT&T webstore, I looked up the phone online and was amazed by all the features it came with, especially with how other phone companies seem to be focused on gradually removing important features on their phones such as the headphone jack or support for SD cards. With the deal also coming with a free Google Daydream, I thought that is was perfect and had it ordered. Now, having spent a few weeks with the phone, I can say that the V30 delivers with its promises. The phone runs very smooth and no issues with lag were ever present. The phone's battery life carries me through the whole day with about 40% remaining. Apps open up quickly and web surfing is fast. The display gets very bright and is easy to see outside during the day. Black colors are shown to be very black with the beautiful OLED display. While the V30 has many great features, it does have some slight issues, however. One spot on the phone's display seems to show whites brighter than anywhere else on the display, resulting in a noticable dot when the brightness is low. While this doesn't cause a major issue, it does get annoying when trying to read at night. The the small speaker on the phone isn't the best. It works fine for watching Youtube videos or general media but doesn't really work for listening to music at high quality. Also, the free Google daydream offered by the promo has yet to be shipped since its approval about three weeks ago.
I believe that the LG V30 is a strong contender for the best phone of 2017. While its not the cheapest phone on the market, the delivers many features that should all belong on a smartphone. Its small issues, however, stop me from giving it a perfect score. I look forward to what LG has to bring in the future! :)

Great Camera & Amazing Audio
on November 17, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm so happy I purchased this phone when I did. Coming from an S7 edge, I loved the edge to edge screen and wanted a phone that had an even bigger more beautiful screen. The almost anamorphic screen ratio is perfect for watching any type of media, as the "bezels" created when watching 16:9 video are invisible thanks to the OLED panel and anamorphic video looks immersive as ever. Camera sLOG settings are amazing too. I can take my video and grade it in post with its full color range and higher dynamic range. Also, the HiFi quad DAC is simply amazing. As an audio engineer, I own several pieces of equipment with high quality headphone converters and this sounds better than all of them! It has amazing dynamic range, excellent stereo separation, and just feels right. I now use this phone to reference volumes on tracks that I produce, because the dynamic separation is so much more physically apparent. And the thing that boggles my mind, is I can do all this and take the phone for a dip in water without worrying one bit. Some of the best technologies here are at their best.
The only things I didn't care for are the LG skin without an app drawer, which I quickly switched to Nova Launcher just to be consistent with my previous phone. I would love a more stock andriod experience out of the box. Also, Android 8 would be nice to have in the future, as a minor peeve of mine are the current horrible Android emojis. But that's not a knock on LG. Also stereo speakers would be nice, but I think the speaker is plenty loud as it stands. Besides those tiny gripes, I'm extremely impressed and love the heck out of this phone.

Best bang for the buck. Software updates are slow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Phone design is great except for the glass back. Rear Camera is descent but still could use better low light performance. Front camera is below average. I love having a headphone jack. I love the AMOLED screen. Battery life is very good. LG should have the Android Oreo software ready by now but they have not. Hopefully bezels will be even smaller on the G7 with a smaller screen and top notch spec's. If camera is as good and bang for the buck is still there , I'll buy that one too.
