Better than G4...duh

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My previous LG phones have been G2, G3 and G4. The G4 was so good I skipped the G5, but got this V30 instead of the G6. I like most everything about it EXCEPT I miss the volume buttons on the back cover. I realize the made the switch for the fingerprint ID, but since I dont use that feature I dont like the change.
Pros: Style/Design, Quality

So Far, So Good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to replace my G5 and I'm glad I did. Phone is beautifully designed and feels solid, but not too heavy in the hand. Feels smooth when switching between apps and I haven't had any issues with lag. My only gripe is that the front-facing camera is not the best quality.

The closest thing to a perfect phone but not quite
on November 17, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The V30 comes very close to the perfect phone while still being a great value. The first think I noticed is the design. It's ergonomics are spot on as it's retains a large screen but feels smaller than similar phones. The curved edges transition to the glass back in a way that's smooth and comfortable in the hand. It is a little slick but the finger print sensor is placed in the perfect location so the grip isn't as much of a problem as you don't fumble with the phone reaching it. This phone comes with all of the features you'd want and they all work fantastic....wireless charging, quick charge 3.0, a superb amp/DAC headphone jack, NFC, aptx-HD bluetooth, and a simply gorgeous screen.
The only thing it's missing is a larger camera sensor and front facing speakers. Speaking of the camera....that's where this phone missed the mark a little. The camera itself is very good and the camera app and manual controls are excellent but HDR mode doesn't work well and the camera's sensor is so small that it tends to fall apart in low light or less than ideal conditions. Slow motion could do with a higher bit rate as well....it's a very weak in that area. The auto focus is a little slow as well. In ideal and well lit conditions the camera competes with the best of them. If LG could clean up auto mode and HDR shots while getting low light and moving shots to come out better without the need to slow the shutter and increase the ISO the V30 would be up with the current market leaders.
On to the things that blew me away with this phone and why I look past the camera's flaws. The first thing you notice is the haptic feedback is incredible. LG really nailed the vibration motor. It's a little thing but it makes a huge difference.
Second, the audio recording quality is also amazing which is vitally important while taking video. Not only does it record in stereo while most of the competition records mono but the addition of a real mic inside the audio jack was brilliant. It's able to record natural sounding audio while also being able to record extremely loud audio without clipping. It's truly a work of art and should be standard on every phone.
The third great feature is the wide angle camera. It is brilliant. I initially passed it off as a gimmick but have used it more than any other feature on this phone. There is minimal distortion on the wide angle although in certain settings/conditions the outside edges blur and distort a little. This happens when your subjects are extremely close. Otherwise it performs very well. The ability to take photographs as well as video with it has proved extremely useful and I hope they keep this feature on future iterations of the V series.
Lastly, the headphone jack is as good as advertised. The built in amp boosts signal to headphones over 50 ohm and audiophile levels of brilliant.
If LG addresses the camera shortcomings and adds stereo speakers for the next generation they will have made the perfect phone. It's fast, light, beautiful, and has all of the features you've ever wanted in a phone. It's really, really good...not perfect but close.

Phenomenal phone with an underdog reputation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a home run product from LG!! Go get one!!
You would be doing yourselves an immense favor by getting this lovely piece of hardware. What is not to like? Gorgeous big screen ✔️ (don't believe the online trolls that swear by the fact that screen is awful. It's not. Period. The concerns raised are for a very particular setup which would hardly affect daily, routine use.) Snappy performance with all the latest innards ✔️. Extremely capable and versatile cameras ✔️. Water and dust resistance ✔️. Wireless charging ✔️. An onboard audio DAC to take your music listening experience to new heights ✔️. And the 3.5 mm audio jack ✔️ and ✔️.
LG has stepped up their game in software department as well. But in case the LG skin doesn't float your boat, it's Android. Go get the skin or launcher you love and you are all set.
LG has knocked this one out of the park!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have to replace my Windows Phone before it's demise might make moving to anew phone most difficult. I went to a good place with the V30. It is intuitive which has made the transition easy. There are more features than I ever had before.
