The knife is good and it feels more comfortable in my hand than electric knives I have used before. the low rating is because I used it once to carve a turkey and it became very hot. I had to put it down for a few minutes and let it cool off before I resumed carving.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good quality; motor does heat up a fair amount after using for more than a few minutes. Hoping that the odor generated by the motor will subside after the knife breaks in a bit.
