The ES units have been in my rack for as long as I can remember but went to "upgrade" from a da3200es to a za810es and besides the wireless and Bluetooth it was a huge downgrade. Lost 7.1 to run either b channel or zone 2. Power is lacking for an es at 90rms. So I then made the move to get the za3100es. Power is back but still lost 7.1 for b channel or zones...on top of that no wireless or Bluetooth?? And only 110 rms unlike the 120 for the original da3200es. Really? Couldnt find room for that in this beast? Had to buy a separate power amp for zones and b channel. Not happy about that...at all On the plus side the UI is now very easy to use

The SonyZA3100ES Review. Vary good processer it delivers as advertised! But think some honest feedback is in order: First the Power supply is totally inadequate to support these many channels Sony has cut so much Quality out of the power supply that they can only rate the power output as one channel driven the power supply isn’t even good enough for a two-channel receiver. I understand why Sony did this to cut costs, a good power supply’s cost money, but, in this day, and age maybe consider an inverter power supply its very cost effective and supply’s a lot of power at very low-cost imagen a transformer that can produce over 700 amps in a welding machine that’s no bigger than a credit card and run Vary clean this technology is out there! And very common. Second: compared to past Sony receivers the display on the STRZA 3100 ES leaves some things to be desired I like to see what type of signal is being decoded DTS, DOLBY etc. all the time. The Blue light was way cool. At the end of the day it’s a very good processor beyond that unless you are running separate power amplifier’s like I am the end user will be very disappointed. One last word about Sony trying to make things easy for installers because so often they will recommend something that they can install something that they can get in and out of fast without much regard for the end user. In retrospect: That last good Quality receiver from Sony was the STR DA 3300ES and the very best as far as Power supply and Amplification was the STR DA 777ES in my opinion That was the best thing out their bar none! Remember Sony an educated consumer is your best customer and will always come back, Time to put the end user FIRST!
This is the second one that I’ve had and I love it
I would recommend this to a friend!
