Not a great fridge so far

Love my new Refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good. It is performing good and I hope it continues. It's somewhat noises when running and the ice maker is loud but no problem for me. Getting it to level was tricky. Delivery people didn't know how so I had to hire a repair man to level it for me.

Ultimately a fine machine....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The fridge that was in our house when we bought it was a Whirlpool side by side and as luck would have it...ONLY ONE fridge in the general world would fit that spot and it was the modern version of that fridge...and it was this WHIRLPOOL. That said, I love Whirlpool fridges. I have had them in the past and have a second, basement unit even now. There are some changes and while sort of "minor" in nature, they are large to us the end consumer.
Not in any particular order....
- the fridge light has been moved from the leading edge of the inside...shing towards the insides, to the back inside...shing everywhere. Why an issue, having had eye surgery and now can see MUCH BETTER, the light is bright and an irritation.
- The shelves are no longer, in this model, adjustable. The previous unit and my 2nd unit in the basement, have metal grids on the back and the shelves are infinitely adjustable. ALSO, in the old unit, some of the shelves pulled out. NOW the shelves have ridges built into the sides of the interior and instead of molding those in to make an infinitely adjustable solution...each shelf and drawer has ONE spot it can be placed at. This IS A HUGE item as SOME fridges in Whirlpool's lineup STILL have the older style, adjustable shelves. This is a critical problem.
- There is, I believe it to be some sort of flow BOX in the upper back left side of the fridge side of things. I THINK this "BOX" lets in cold air to provide cooling into the fridge. The problem is...without adjustable shelves, that box keeps water bottles, short bottles of pop or anything really from using that space. In the old fridge, top shelf was for tall water bottles and 12 ounce bottles of pop. Now, those stand and have to go around that "BOX" space and the space is unusable due to the fact, if you put something short under the box...you would have to move dozens of water bottles to get to it, then put those bottles back.
- Not sure why and maybe should not complain, BUT, this unit...old one also...has the icemaker taking up space where the shelves are. HOWEVER, my unit in the basement and others on the showroom floor put the ice maker IN THE DOOR...leaving all the back of the freezer for shelved storage. Why not do that with all models....only makes sense. ALSO, while the ice does come through the door...there is no longer a water option...that I can locate.
- Speaking of locating...you know those dials on the inside of the fridge, where you decide how cold all is suppose to be and because it is inside, once you find the sweet spot, you can use a Sharpie to mark the proper location....now the controls are on the outside, with the ice dispenser's controls. Making them accidently accessible to little fingers that can reach these. YES...there is a control lock...but that means the ice doesn't work either. When inside and at the top, beyond the reach of most kids and the notice of most people...it was a better solution.
Beyond these items, the fridge is beautiful. We got the black stainless finish...I think it is called Smoked Stainless. It seems to be working great. I am sure, in time I MAY forget the matters mentioned above....maybe.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had this fridge for about 6 weeks and We are really happy with it! We love the water and ice dispenser! There is ample room in both the fridge and freezer for all our needs. A bonus is the milk jug shelf as it frees up so much space in the fridge. It also look sleek and stylish in the black!
