Love/Hate Relationship

When we remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago, we decided to spend our money on a quality refrigerator. We purchased the Electrolux because it was exactly what we wanted in terms of size, appearance, and design. Unfortunately our love for our new refrigerator turned into hate. Within the first year of owning our new refrigerator we had to have the repairman at our house so many times that we became friends. The problem was the ice maker. Our refrigerator was wonderful, but our ice maker was poorly designed. Eventually, our 1 year warranty had expired and we started spending our own money to try to fix the problems. We have never had a product that had so many problems and required so much attention from a repairman as this product. At one point we spent over $300 of our own money to fix the computer component of the refrigerator. Immediately after we spent hundreds of dollars of our own money, Electrolux deemed our refrigerator unrepairable and replaced it with a brand new unit. We were told that they had updated the ice maker and that all of the problems were fixed. Finally, a refrigerator without problems...or though we thought. Within the first year of owning this new refrigerator we have also had the repairman out to fix the ice maker. As our warranty for this refrigerator expires, we wonder how much money we will have to spend in the future. We've thought about spending the money and extending the warranty, but we have put so much money into the two refrigerators that we just can't afford it. We love the refrigerator but unfortunately the ice maker has caused us so much stress and money that we would not recommend it to our friends. If we won the $1,000 in this contest, we would extend our warranty and have peace of mind.

I got my new counter depth Electrolux just after new years. I bought Electrolux because I know they stand behind thier products and make a great well thought out product. I really appreciate the separate temperature controlled drawers. My produce, fruit, and meat products stay fresh for a long time.

This is our second Electrolux refrigerator. The first model had ice maker problems after the first year, and after a long process with Electrolux, we now have this new model. It has two ice makers -- one in the top and one in the bottom -- which is a nice feature. It does not have stainless on the sides which our first model had, but since it is enclosed in the kitchen it is not a problem. The inside is spacious and well designed. We have a kitchen full of other Electrolux appliances, and we're hoping for better luck this time around.

We have enjoyed the Electrolux french door with bottom freezer. The ice maker is vastly improved and touch controls even better.

It is hard to believe there is so much room in a counter depth refrigerator. The dual ice makers make are a great benefit. It is all and more than expected.
