French Door Refrigerator

This particular refrigerator may be fine, but I won't know for a while, as this is now my 5th refrigerator in 5 years that Electrolux has had to provide because all of the previous 4 had problems which were not fixable. It is a pretty fridge, and has a good layout, but only time will tell. The last one they sent me only worked properly for about two months before it too had to be replaced. It seems these fridges are not easily fixed. I do compliment Electrolux customer service, as they are good about making sure they do send a new one. Five in five years doesn't give me much faith in how long this one will work. If it quits after the warrantee is over, I will most likely purchase a different brand.
My answers to the questions below are based on this latest fridge, although the original purchase in 2009 was due to building a new home. Replacements have been caused by the appliances malfunctioning. The very first one was due to a compressor problem, the next two because the ice-maker would not keep the ice frozen, the third and fourth one because the main compartment of the fridge would not get below 40 degrees, way too warm for milk!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very good, not perfect

We've had our Electrolux Counter-Depth French door refrigerator for several weeks and are overall very happy with it so far. The layout is very good, the lighting is terrific, it cools quickly and efficiently. The compressor seems to on most of the time, but we hope that is because it is a variable-speed compressor; we haven't found a direct way to confirm this. A couple of design suggestions: 1) Make it easier to shut the freezer door. If you don't give it a good hard shove, it can be ajar and you find hours later that the freezer temp is way up; and relatedly, 2) there is an alarm that goes off if a refrigerator door has been left ajar, but none for the freezer door. Would this be so hard to work in? It's needed even more for the freezer, since it's more iikely to be left open. 3) The top shelf in the freezer is really clumsy to move in and out. It's certainly not a "luxury-glide" experience like the drawers up in the refrigerator. It seems to us that most of the design work went into the fridge part and not so much down below. In the refrigerator part a couple of minor things only, like it would be nice if you could open the left-hand produce drawer without opening both doors -- seems kind of bad design to force this for one drawer and not the other. But all things considered, pretty happy.

Terrible product

I've had this for 4 years and have had nothing but repair costs.
Cheap trim all around came off and constant electrical problems. Have spent more money on repairs than the fridge is worth.

This refirgerator is TERRIBLE!

I have owned this refrigerator since Jul 2011 and the ice maker has gone out three times and the computer went out within the first year, about 2 weeks before the warranty ran out. I have to buy the extended warranty every year just to keep it running or at least be able to have ice. I am going to replace this as soon as I can and it WILL NOT be with another Electrolux. Also, it has an alarm that sounds off every time the power goes off, which would be okay if it didn't sound off for about 5 minutes. It really makes me mad when the power comes back on at 2 am and the refrigerator alarm wakes me up and it won't stop beeping. I was told to turn the sound off but it still beeps, even with sound off! I hate this refrigerator!!!

The only thing that we have had problems is the ice dispensing! The panel, IQ, has been replaced and now it will not dispense ice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this refrigerator a month ago. I find it to be a well thought out appliance. I can rearrange the shelves to meet my needs. I especially like the number of lights inside which illuminates the contents very well.

lights, they say "Wow"! I love the lighting. Fits in so beautifully that its as though it was designed just for me. Really enjoying the huge ice storage in freezer - great for filling water bottles quickly.
