[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had ink jet printers for years and switched to a LaserJet a couple of years ago...will NEVER go back to ink jet. The toner doesn't dry up like ink does so I spend less overall. The toners feel really expensive but last so much longer!
Toner cartridges are overpriced. It is ridiculous that HP disables the printer because non-HP printers are installed. HP has over-reached into customers’ domain with it corporate doctrine of “security chip” in cartridges. I will never buy another HP product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello,
I know how you feel. You are right. High-quality and authentic toner cartridges are expensive. The best way to save on toner is to print cautiously. We want our customers to be delighted with their purchase, not upset.
I can explain the background of the non-original cartridge messages. We encourage maximizing our toners because we know they work well with our printers. There are multiple complications from using a third-party manufacturer. The cartridges may leak, causing damage to the printer. There is no guarantee on the formulation of third-party toner. The cartridge may work fine, but it might also dry quickly or have print quality issues. Using our toner with our printers ensures the best quality printing experience.
The security chips protect the customer. The chips are used to connect the printer and for tracking. It also protects the consumer against counterfeit cartridges marketed as HP original cartridges on the web. I hope this provides clarity on the value of the cartridges for the price.
