Very good audio and noise cancelling

Was a gift Christmas 2018, writing 10-16-20. Inner ear lining started to tear and rip about 6 months ago, beginning of summer, but that was because I would frequently handle the headphones roughly. A crack started appearing in the plastic connector between the right headphone and swivel area, also because I handled the headphones rough. Finally separated about a week ago, I just superglued it back together in the meantime I was waiting for my new WH-XB900N (the model listed to the right of this one) to arrive. Overall great headphones but it was my fault for breaking them, handle with a semblance of care.

Sometimes it's about more than music

My husband and I are in our 50's and 60's. Back when we were live music fans, we damaged our hearing. Didn't bother us then, but it does now. I use headphones to better hear my phone when the kids are watching TV, or to NOT hear the TV when I'm writing a paper for school or work. Instead of the focus on the few streaming services that have 360 service, how about partnering with Audible or podcast providers?

Excellent Headphones

I just received my pair 1 day ago. I have not had many relatively high end headphones before. The only other pair I have had are the Skullcandy Crusher Wireless. They don't even compare to these headphones. These headphones have probably double the amount of cushion on the headband and the ear cups are much more open, my ears have much more room to breathe with the H.ear on 2s then the Skullcandies. Sound quality is amazing. Very balanced and sound clear vocals. Super high quality build, does feel cheep at all. The touch and gesture controls are also very convenient and intuitive. Overall I love these headphones and I could not be happier.

Can't connect to Apple and Google Products

I bought this about 4 months ago and the bluetooth connection worked great with Android devices and pc's. When I tried to connect to Apple or Google, products, the device did not show up and couldn't connect. It also lost the ability to have ambient sound after about 1 month.

Hi Sardine, I am sorry to hear that the headphones won;t pair with Apple or Google products. The WH-H900N can be paired with Apple and other products that supports Bluetooth or NFC. We recommend following the steps on the Help Guide to fix the pairing issue.

Excellent sound and build quality

I got these headphones as a gift and they are absolutely incredible. They rival studio headphones in sound quality. The range of sound is extremely well balanced. The controls in the headphones are innovative and not awkward. Overall, 5 stars would not change anything about these.

Uncomfy. Noise cancelling meh. Touch controls bad.

I have been using these for about a week, in various conditions on a road trip.
First, I have big ears, which makes it a pain to find good headphones. Well, these are some of the most disappointing I've worn. The cups look deep and well-padded, but the driver has a protective cover that sticks into the ear space like a plastic nipple pressing into the edge of my ear. After one or two hours, this becomes extremely painful.
Second, the noise cancelling isn't that great. It works fine for extreme background noise, like the wind rushing past a car or the wall-mounted A/C of a motel. However, it works horribly for irregular sounds, such as waking up early, and one of your roadtrip buddies is snoring so loud that you're shocked you're the only one awake.
Like most noise-cancelling headphones I've tried, the active noise-cancelling comes with an uncomfortable ear pressure. I find that the "ambient sound" setting is the most comfortable, but it is also the most jarring. It passes the sound with enough of a delay that you hear an echo of yourself when you talk. If you are very close to another person, such as sitting beside them in a car, you will also hear an echo when they talk; too much sound gets through the padding too quickly, and is then repeated through the mic pass-through. It's disorienting.
Third, the touch controls. At first, I though they were nice and useful. However, it quickly became apparent that the headphone orientation is too strict. If you wear them at the "wrong" angle, it's extremely easy for you to gesture "volume up", and instead the headset understands "forward" and skips to the next song. I don't know if the headset just lacks gyroscopic sensing to help this, or if the motion of the car was throwing me and/or it off, but it was extremely frustrating.
It's only gotten worse since I've been home and tried using them at the gym. Any movement which brings my arms close to my head, like overhead tricep extensions, my arm may bump or swipe along the touch controls, making all sorts of things happen when I don't want them to. So far, I haven't found any way of turning off the touch controls. With controls so easy to accidentally touch, I believe a button or a switch to make the controls computer/phone-only is a MUST. Just make it an alternative feature of the NC/Ambient button. It already has the alternative for Google Assistant. Or add a triple-tap gesture to activate or deactivate the rest of the controls. It's definitely the kind of thing that should be possible in a software update is what I'm saying.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nostalgic and Amazing

When I was in High School, I bought the MDR-100ABN’s, which were the previous version of these. They were my first high-end headphones, and I loved them so much. Unfortunately, my dog ate them after only a month of owning them. After that, I upgraded to the MDR-1000x’s. I have used those for 3 years, and they are great, but there was something about my h.ear ons that just couldn’t be beat. I bought these in hopes that they would be reminiscent of the original h.ear ons, and oh boy are these amazing! They have a certain way of handling bass and highs that not even the higher-end 1000x models can beat. The noise cancelling seems even better than the previous h.ear ons, and the touch controls are perfect. These are such a nice improvement on the first model, while still keeping the charm the originals had. My only complaint is that the headphones don’t fold down and it can sometimes be uncomfortable wearing them around my neck, but that is very insignificant considering all the greatness you get from these headphones.
