very inefficient

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought this for an apartment to cool a 550sqft room and DOES NOT WORK won't cool the room past 75F set to high and 60F spent hundreds on electricity to still be warm got a window unit thats the same BTU and now have to shut the A/C off since it gets so cold would not recommend unless its for a much smaller room or you enjoy wasting money

The unit vents room air outside which pulls hot outside air in.
In my situation this is very inefficient, it should use outside air for condenser.
Using temperature data logger to check operation, the compressor shut down only for two 5 minute periods in 24 hours of operation.

If the room is about 100 degrees and you turn on the unit with the fan on high it will shut down and latch out the compressor in about 10 minutes.
Pros: none
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have never tried a portable ac before, this one cooled my whole mobile home in FL heat with no problem. Is a little louder than window unit but have adapted and my light bill never increased. Love it and would highly recommend this product.

Not what I had hoped, loud and expensive

This product was much louder than anticipated, do not recommend if it is going to be used in the bedroom. My power bill was increased significantly and the product did not cool the room as I had hoped. It's also not as versatile in mobility as I wanted.

Excellent Value for the Money

I purchased this unit for a large room for my vacation home as I did not want an air conditioner hanging out the window. First, it was very easy to set up and install - it took me about 9 minutes so it's a snap. Second, it performs as advertized in terms of cooling not only the large room but a lot of the downstairs. It's very quiet as compared with window units. I liked it so much, I purchased a smaller unit (Model # LP0813WNR - 8,000 BTUs) for the Master Bedroom. Same experience with that unit. I highly recommend both units. When purchasing be sure to check the sizing guide for the room for the BTU size you'll need.
