Good portable capture device

Mainly used to capture nocturnal wildlife, the night vision is on par with some of the decent gamecams in the market. Wi-Fi setup was quick but camera took awhile to retrieve live view. After live view got going, the camera worked fine although connection can still be bit flaky at times. More user interaction-feedback should be put into the app when Installing new firmware, for some inexplicable reason, the app doesn't show any progress indicator, anyway I followed the manual instructions (good pictorial guide) which were spot-on and had the firmware installed finally. Also, the app was updated a few days ago and now appears to allow for more regular recordings. I haven't fully tested the settings yet but i'm hoping this would allow for more close encounters footages at the site.

Sounds great. Actually rubbish

Camera gave about a month's life between charges originally. Now, after a couple of years, it's about 5 days and I really can't be bothered getting the ladder out to take it it down and recharge it that frequently. Easier to let people steal stuff and claim on the insurance!

It is possible that the battery on the camera has reached or exceeded its operating temperature. If this camera is operated outside this temperature, it can/will lead to permanent damage. We offer a 1-year warranty on this unit or 18-months with valid registration.

both camera's outside failed at -25C

will no longer connect to wifi after being exposed to -25C. Should not be sold in northern ontario as an outdoors camera. motion sensor misses just about everything too.

We do not recommend that this camera is operated outside of its operating temperature. If exposed, this can/will cause permanent damage. Please call in and provide a copy of your receipt.

WIFI Coverage???

I brought this Camera set up x 3, with solar panels, but on set up having trouble with WIFI coverage for outdoors. Has anyone else had trouble with this that can help place me in right direction?? ( I have mobile data connection I am connecting with) does it need to be a fixed line? I have tried online /support but cannot get through.

The Safe By Swann App doesn't work on Android 10

Don't by this product unless they fix the app to work on Android 10. Despite Google releasing Android 10 in Feb to allow developers to ensure their saps are ready for the release of the latest Google software Swann still have not got an update to this. Check out their reviews on the Google Play store. All 1 start reviews complaining about the same thing.

Biggest waste of money

Have had it for over a year now, tried multiple locations and it is so unreliable. I can walk right past the camera and almost touch it. It does not detect me. How can I rely on this lack of performance for security?

Thank you for reaching out to us with your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your most recent experience with our Swann Wire-Free 1080 Smart Security Camera. PIR sensors work optimally when the camera is mounted around looking down somewhat and the subject of detection passes across their front. The more the object must "cross" the front of the camera the better the detection reliability. When placing your camera try to avoid situations where the subject would move straight toward the camera if possible. You may need to experiment with the sensitivity settings in the app and camera placement to get the ideal mix of detection and battery life as too much sensitivity can reduce battery life.

Messy system

I have installed 4 cameras We are on nbn with strong wi fi signal.But cameras are slow to download inconsistant and finicky.I installed an expensive wi fi booster but that didnt change anything.The magnet mount isnt strong enough as after 24 hours or so the weight of the camera sags down.This system needs some tweaking to make it function smoothly.Russell

The Camera has average WiFi range, but seems to very well made.
