Never had any issues and LOVE being able to check in when I'm at work

I have to say, this is one of the best purchases I have made and definitely the best purchase I have made to secure my home. I bought a 3 pack of these and then I later purchased 2 solar panels (which are honestly worth their weight in GOLD). I have 2 cameras outside, just under the eaves of my house so weren't terribly accessible for recharging every month or so, so I got the solar panels and now I don't have to touch them at all. I guess this is a *simple* way of having a decent CCTV system in without having to drill through walls or pay for installation - as there are only 2 screws to install.

So many issues

I purchased 5 of these as an upgrade an old wired Swann system that worked perfectly but was old & lacked features. The new wireless cameras are difficult to set up and often stop working, however, if you can overcome this with perseverance, the main problem is that they only pick up a few of the triggers which makes them useless. An indoor hallway one is right next to the Wi-fi router but only picks up roughly 1 in 3 triggers. One over our garage with a strong signal is around the same only picking up few triggers whereas we have a wireless Ring security cam over the garage that picks up everything and is 100% reliable as you can see from the photos (Ring picking the person leaving the house at 7.07 and returning at 7.28, Swann only the 7.07). Swann really need to up their game and update the software immediately.

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us and providing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your most recent experience with our Swann Wire-Free Camera. Our Wifi cameras rely on the reliability of a strong and fast internet connection for function. PIR sensors work optimally when the camera is mounted around looking down somewhat and the subject of detection passes across their front. The more the object must "cross" the front of the camera the better the detection reliability. When placing your camera try to avoid situations where the subject would move straight toward the camera if possible.
You may need to experiment with the sensitivity settings in the app and camera placement to get the ideal mix of detection and battery life as too much sensitivity can reduce battery life.
We will send your feedback in compilation to our development team to help improve future products.
Please let us know how we may further assist you,
Thank you. JV Swann Customer Support

Battery only charged up to 40% and no repair

Bought their smart wireless camera 3pk in 2018. One of three cameras can only be charged up to 80% in first year and 40% within two years. They said it is out of warranty and they do not repair cameras...which means good luck guys, no repair, just throw it into the bin.
They should recall this model, based on lots of reviews.
Do not believe stated 1 month battery life. Two person live in the house and set the sensitivity to low for front door, need to recharge every week. Imaging how busy our chargers are as we have three cameras.
There are other brands avaiable which allows users to replace the battery. Do your research and believe what we said here, otherwise you will be the next.

DO NOT PRUCHASE. Do your research. Read the reviews.

I don't usually write reviews and try to see the positives of a product, but oh my god, this purchase has been one of the more regrettable decisions I have made for our home, especially considering the steep price tag.
The battery initially lasted for 3 weeks as they stated, but deterioriated quickly. After 2 or so months of having the product, I am finding myself charging these once a week (I even had to turn the camera sensitivity and quality to the lowest setting to for battery longevity - even then the most I can stretch it to is a week and a half). If it is anything, the picture quality is alright at medium settings.
The cloud system takes 5 minutes or so to buffer a video - sometimes it never does. If you want to view the camera in real time, it's no better. The whole cloud infterface it uses is a joke, you will end up being incredibly frustrated at it - almost to the point where you're contemplating throwing these in the bin.
Funnily enough, I am trying to load a video on my phone now as I type, and it has been buffering for over 5 minutes.
Admittedly, I did not look up reviews before purchasing this product. I was blindsided and assumed the brand Swann would produce high quality/functional products. It has been a very expensive lesson for me. I will never buy Swann again and hope someone reads this review before purchasing and doesn't end up a sucker like I was (or we all were, considering the amount of negative reviews).

Extremely substandard product in every aspect.

I bought 6 Swann Smart Camera's around 1 year ago and from the get go I become aware of some critical issues with the camera's which Swann have been aware of since product launch. The first problem i encountered was the time it takes for the camera to wake from sleep mode and start recording the event after it senses motion. It misses at least the first 5 and in some cases up to 10 secs of the event every single time which happens to be the most crucial part of footage needed in an unfortunate situation. I contacted Swann in relation to this and even following the troubleshoot advice given to me by the Tech support team over the phone which were;
-- Wifi signal strength ( to which i attempted to resolve at an extra expense with Wi-Fi extenders positioned near every camera) -- Camera positioning (the target needs to move across the camera's area of view from one side to the other before it will trigger the motion detection and start recording) It won't detect motion if the target is moving directly or slightly indirectly toward the camera view so therefore having to reposition the camera in order to address this results in the camera not being able to monitor the required area. -- Camera True detect motion sensitivity set to MAX and True detect sleep set to MIN -- Camera battery life over 50%
TO NO PREVAIL and this problem is still existing to this day 12 months later which unfortunately for me have had the Swann Smart Camera system let me down by not doing it's job when I needed it most as it missed the first critical 11 secs of footage of a home invasion at my home when the camera started recording after they were out of view and had kicked their way in only capturing a glimpse of the leg of one offender and missed a clear front on shot of both of them.
This is a major amateur design fault which renders this product completely useless for what it's designed to do. Swann have indicated on numerous occasions that upcoming planned software updates will rectify the above issues. There's not been a software update released as yet that has addressed the issues as promised.
Other issues encountered are;
-- Poor build quality, the female thread built into the bottom of the camera where the outdoor mounting stand attaches has broken away from the camera housing and fallen into the camera body on 2 cameras. -- Video image quality deteriorates over time and becomes very very poor especially the night vision. -- Battery life deteriorates quickly over time and the camera's need charging every 2 to 3 days even in low activity areas.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT. check out all of the competitors products that have progressed from their first series cameras releasing better and more improved models with 1 company on to it's 4th edition featuring 4k video quality for around the same price as Swann's very old and substandard yet still current series 1 cameras.

Disappointing after firmware update

I bought this camera for inside use 6 months ago to view my dogs when I was out. It was working fine and was happy with it until I was required to update it to new firmware. Since then connecting to live view is spasmodic. Most of the time it tries over and over to connect without any success. It’s so frustrating, that I’m going to look around for a better product from another company.

Worked for a year

This camera lasted exactly for a year. And while it was working fine on solar panel all this while, 2 weeks ago it suddenly stopped working. Customer support has not been helpful. This camera does not like being close to magnets even though it has a magnetic mount. After resetting the camera multiple times as soon as it is mounted the camera stops working. Was okay while it lasted. Wont buy another swann branded camera again though.

NOT for ceiling mount, yet.
on December 20, 2017
Posted by: Pedro S.
Product description says we can mount it on ceiling but to do that camera must be upside down and there is no option to flip image on camera itself, in firmware, or in the only app we can use with it. Another thing to fix in future revisions of firmware or app. The latest firmware upgrade improved a couple of things, but still much progress to be made IMHO.
Response from swann.comBy January 2, 2018
Thank you for your feedback. A firmware update that will enable image rotation is expected by the end of January 2018.
