Wouldn't buy

I have two of these cameras. One of them I can't get to pair. The other one Keeps disconnecting, these cameras are nothing but problems. I also have the swann tilt cameras and the swann wireless outdoor 3 pack with DVD. No problems at all with those
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Since Migration in 2020 Camera does not work

Since Migration in 2020 Camera does not work and is not possible to pair the camera in my cellphone even downloading the latest App in Playsotre. I already asked for assistance to the indicated support mail adressse and to the day I have not received any response back.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Extremely disappointing

I had high hopes for this little unit as I have several other Swann products that I am happy with. Unfortunately this camera seems to stay connected for around 6 - 8 hours before it shuts itself down. The only way to wake it up is to perform a hard reset on the unit itself and re-pair it. Once re-paired, it seems to perform okay again for another 6 or so hours. Battery voltage is always above 80%, and has strong wifi as it is within 2 metres from a wifi extender. This is the second unit in as many days to have the same problem so it appears to be firmware related. I have tried this on a different wifi connection to no avail.

I am very pleased with the swan wireless security camera.But I find I have to recharge the batterys every 3 to 4 days,I have the camera settings so they use the least amount of power,We have 5 cameras so all we seem to do is recharge batterys.The Information we were given when we purchased the cameras was you only need to charge them a handful of times a year or 3-4 times a year.I also have updated the cameras.Maybe my camera batterys are faulty.If anyone from swan can help me with an answer to my problem it would be appreciated.

Easy instructions to follow

Bought this camera and wanted to place inside a window to watch the back door/garden due to expensive stuff hanging around.... at night time there is reflection on the glass and it doesn't pick up people moving outside to easily. This unit was purchased for someone with a disability so no wires etc was ideal but with the glass causing a reflection not so good if you only use indoors. I would have liked to try it out but too late now as i've bought it. We can mount outdoors for normal day to day but when we go away we want it inside the house to make sure no one is coming into the house when they should not. Ideal for indoor use ... questions about outside use like someone just taking the camera down off the magnet.

Not a good product

My last review was moderated and would not be published for some reason. To honest?
The cameras will not hold a charge for more than 2-3 weeks. If it's cold outside or you live anywhere other then a dead end street your going to be charging these cameras often. Also it doesn't pick up motion till it's to late. I have a 20ft long walkway with the camera pointing directly down it and if the mailman comes it will start recording as he's walking "AWAY" from the house. Anyways I hope this helps because ive had them for close to a year and am stuck at this point. I'm writing this review because I had a package stolen off my porch yesterday. The cameras were inside charging!!!

PIR sensors work optimally when the camera is mounted around looking down somewhat and the subject of detection passes across their front. The more the object must "cross" the front of the camera the better the detection reliability. When placing your camera try to avoid situations where the subject would move straight toward the camera if possible. You may need to experiment with the sensitivity settings in the app and camera placement to get the ideal mix of detection and battery life as too much sensitivity can reduce battery life.

We hope to address any found issues with this camera with the launch of generation 2 within the near future.

Disappointing

I have tried for two days with all the instructions etc. Still no joy, read about using a different phone and isolating it from mobile network. After getting second phone to at least upload the app. The 2nd phone would not connect to the camera or visa versa? Spoke to a tech today, after following his advise still no connection. He suggested another phone (how many fr#cking phones do you need). Two days I will not get back, returning these cameras. Look good, what I wanted, but alas no substance and no use if they don't work. Should have read the app Reviews 1st. DOH!.

We are sorry to hear about your experience with our Smart Wi-Fi Security Camera. Since this unit relies on a Wi-Fi connection to communicate from the camera to the mobile device, issues can occur if there is an interruption of the frequencies in your area. If you live in a populated area, you may want to switch your network frequency to 5GHz. This unit will work on 2.4GHz & 5GHz with a wireless range up to 65ft/20m*. The primary differences between the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz wireless frequencies are range and bandwidth. It is uncommon for this to occur and we would like to further assist.

Did you get a chance to speak with a level two technician?

Wi-Fi extenders are commonly used to help strengthen the signal of your wireless internet connection.

Does what I need it to

I have this camera mounted in my backyard on my daughter's playset and pointed at the back patio about 40 feet away. The camera seems to wake up and record reliably when people or animals are detected (I mostly end up getting video of the dog drinking water), but there are some clips with no people or animals when the sun is bright and the wind is up in the afternoon. I do have the sensitivity set to the highest level, though. Also, the image quality is great when zoomed out, but it does get pixelated when zoomed in. All in all, not perfect, but a good value over higher priced cameras out there.
