Complicated networking

While the basic functions are fine on this, I still cannot figure out how to scan to email. I have contacted Brother support numerous times including via email. I always get emails with links on top of links on top of links. The manual is confusing at best to understand. As an IT pro, I don't claim to be an expert on these copiers, but the ease of setup is anything but. Still working on the network issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It was problem printer. Returned it to Costco

After less than a week the printer MFC8910 the copies came out with a solid black which was about 4 inches and 8 inches. Tech was unable to help and I refused having a repairman come to my home. It is easier to return than to have to wait for parts and another service call.

Challenging Setup of Software.
This is a great machine that does 2-sided printing or copying from 1 or 2 sided originals. This MFC8910DW does 2-sided automatically from the ADF without having to copy one side and turn over the originals and load the copies upside down in the paper tray.
I bought this MFC8910DW a couple weeks ago but the paper would not feed from the paper tray. Brother was great about sending a replacement which is working well. I have not found how to do automatic 2-sded scanning from the 2-sided ADF yet.

I was using a Brother MFC8440N prior to this unit with its own drivers and used PaperPort 11, PDF maker 3 and other PDF related software. When I loaded the S-W from the Brother CD nothing would work. I had to remove PaperPort and related programs manually as well as remove the drivers and then reload the MFC8910DW CD. The PaperPort 12SE software now works - BUT - I no longer have PDF Maker 3 and some other S-W working.
Regardless of how I set the default in PaperPort (i.e. B&W 300 dpi Letter) the scan dialog defaults to Color 200 dpi Legal. It is not clear if the SE version of PaperPort allows changing defaults.

Very Happy with Purchase

I bought this to upgrade from old used up MFC-8890DW (which I was also very happy with) and was extremely happy from the get go. Scanning is much faster, wireless set up a snap. All my apps moved flawlessly from the old printer to the new. Highly recommend.

MFC-8910DW Multi-Function Workhorse

We have 8 of these units between our two locations.
I have been replacing the older model MFC 8480's with new MFC 8190 as the older equipment passes on. The older MFC 8480’s were here a lot longer than I was (4+ years now) and they all had over 250,000 pages printed each.
The new 8190’s are also great. We now are running 8 units, we have them in all the areas that require a printer and a fax line.
We also use them to scan to the network, as required. We work a couple of them quite a lot, printing reports, they respond very well, even in the sales office where they don’t get a lot of rest.
We print over the network, using both Windows and Unix for our business needs, these machines are easy to setup and manage in both environments! A definite plus for us who support.
Wonderful multi-function units that I am very pleased with, I will continue to purchase them (or there next incarnation) for as long as I am required.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fantastic MFC Device

I own two identical MFC-8910DW Brother machines. The first is in my Chicago home office. I like it so much that I bought an identical unit for my Florida residence. It is easy to use, FAST, and extremely reliable. What else can I say.

I thought my last one was good, actually very good. Well, this one is better! faster, warms up in a few seconds and cools down equally fast. Can't be happier.
