I have used Brother machines for many years, changing them when either the drum is gone, or a new, faster machine comes on the market. My small business requires a fast and reliable duplexing machine. This one is it. Setup is a snap and the machine has been a workhorse from the first time I used it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great printer!!

I have used HP printers for years. The last printer did not impress me and I had to replace it shortly after a year. I bought my first Brother printer and it is the best! The setup was easy. The printing quality is impressive. The cost of supplies is less. If you have not tried a Brother printer, you should! GREAT PRINTER!

Excellelent for multiple computers

This printer easily connects to a wireless router to give both ethernet and wireless network connections to desktops and mobile computers. It also has a very low power sleep state so it can stay on all the time, ready to print from many sources. Printing is crisp, fast and the duplex option works well. I assume that the quality will last for many years, just as my other Brother printers have. I had some difficulty with an iPad finding the printer, but once a connection was found, Airprint worked flawlessly thereafter. This problem may not have been the printer's fault.

Very Good Laser Printer

My HL-5450DN printer works very well for my home projects (duplex printing, etc.). It prints very vast, and copies are great!

The Hl-5440DN is without doubt one of the best printers, I have ever owned, it has only one flaw.
When I turn the printer and computer on, it always prints out 4-7 sheets of paper with the following...
USBCBIOS$C
(up and down arrow) $USBCBIOS (up and down arrow) C
Or
(Heart)(up and down arrow) USBCBIOS
Or
(Heart)(up and down arrow) USBCBIOS
Or other variations of these codes.
What this is I don't know, but it is wasting a lot of paper for me.
I wish I knew how to stop it from doing this.

Bought two, both died just after 90 days

Error and toner lights came on simultaneously and they wouldn't print any more. Changed toner, nothing. Changed the drum, nothing. Hopefully Brother will honor their warranty. Now to figure out how to make a warranty clam.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
