Good starter drone for kids!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This drone was very easy to set up. My 10 year old did it on his own. It charges quickly but the charge only lasts between 8 and 10 minutes which can be frustrating when you are trying to learn the controls. My kids quickly got the hang of using the controls and flying it. My 13 year old was not as impressed with this drone after the first day. I would definitely recommend this for ages 8-10. In the 2 weeks that we've had it, we have had to replace 2 of the blades (which are included). This is a good starter drone for this price point!
I would recommend this to a friend!

my first drone

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] my son was super excited about opening up his first drone! it was a rather large box, however a small drone, about the size of an iPhone (non-plus).
the app was easy to install- but not that necessary. the remote requires 2 AAA batteries, not included and the drone came with a charger. (it would be better it were a micro-USB like most android phones as the charger is small with a short charging cable--easy to loose!)
This is the first drone my son and i have ever had--there are very limited instructions and not much on youtube for this particular drone. it took a good 2-3 days to learn how to fly it, and by no means are we experts. it will not hover in the same place and moving forward on the joystick does not exactly make it go perfectly forward in reality. This is an INDOOR drone, i would be scared to use it outside as a gust of wind could cause havoc. It is too small to attach a GPS tracker on.
it did include extra blades, but no instruction on how to remove the old ones as well as attach the new ones. In just over a week, somehow, the back black blades need to be replaced (due to crashes) and i am not too sure how to do that!
The camera is neat feature, when using the goggles, it gives a first person view, but that is a rather advanced feature that we are far from.
Would i buy another--not until i felt that could fly one with any issues. Have we had fun with it- yes, and it makes me want to buy a BIGGER (outdoor drone) with more auto-pilot features.

Lots of speed, excitement short lived

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I have 3 boys (4 if you include the husband) 14, 12 and 9. It is very very light was the first thing he noticed. So while he was exploring it and trying to figure out how it works (as a typical man he didn’t read directions) First complaint he had was can’t find the on/off button the drone itself. Hmm.. OK now we look at directions and he says well it’s so dang tiny how do they expect you to find it? So we get the drone working and he had to try it out first, it zipped around the floor in the dining room and the kids all laughed thought it was fun, etc. Its pretty darn quick. The dog tried chasing it and stepped on it, flipped it over. Worried it was broke I grabbed it and to my surprise it was fine! Set it back down and off it went again. Even the cat chased it. It seems to like to go in lots of circles, which could be the user. So each boy took their time playing with it but got bored after about 10 minutes with it. So it sat for a few days and my 9 yr old decides to play with it again, this time we took it outside on same charge as when we first got it. He thinks it is cool but was kinda bummed it wouldn’t even run through a leaf on the patio. It kept stopping and getting stuck, which could be again the user. After many different tries with this drone they all came to the conclusion that it’s cool but it didn’t just hold the excitement as much as expected.
The drone itself is very flimsy/lightweight. I had it stop once, so I wanted to turn it off but the fans kept going and trying to shut the button off while they are going is not easy. The button for on/off is small and not easily accessible especially for little kids. The charge lasted a decent amount of time, so unless we did major usage that wasn’t a problem. I had thought it would fly as well but it didn’t seem to or we haven’t figured that out as of yet, which means it’s not entirely intuitive, the directions provided were a bit confusing especially since it’s geared towards kids. Overall my kids gave it 3 stars!!!!!!!!

Funn little drone

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think this drone is fun for my 10 year old boy he enjoys watching it fly through the sky and race on the road it takes some practice to get use to controlling it properly. It has crashed down many times and has not broke it also got caught in a tree and found it's way out of the tree overall this is a fun beginners drone for a kid he has had many hours of fun with it afterschool!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Multi-Play Goodness!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Light as a feather. Fast. EXCITING! My 10 year old son said all of these things. When he saw the 2-in-1 Hyper Drift Drone by Air Hogs, he thought Christmas had come early! As a family, we've been long time fans of the brand, so we had high hopes for this drone. Air Hogs, you didn't disappoint!
We couldn't wait to open it... tear this drone from its cardboard confines. Once open, my son's eyes sparkled. With batteries in hand, he was READY. At first, I was a little surprised at how thin the plastic of the boat part was. I had some reservations at how durable it would be against a overzealous 10 year old boy. Especially the drone itself. He was very careful with it, so that was good to see. It quickly became a prized possession so he took the best care when handing it.
Once the batteries were popped in, and the mechanics of the remote were figured out, we were ready to roll! Honestly, I really wasn't sure where we would race this little gem of a drone. But, I was pleasantly surprised that my hardwood floors were the PERFECT place. We were able to race the boat across the flooring with ease! And WOW can it hustle!!!! The dog was even chasing it!
Next we dismantled the boat portion from the drone itself. Once again, it felt so light weight and slightly flimsy. I was nervous, but the kidlet seemed to no have a care. He placed it in my hand, and it started to fly. A little wobbly, and not as easy to navigate with the remote as it was fully assembled, but he got the hang of it. I quickly learned, when it was my turn to fly, that I am not as skilled as my son. I nearly broke it dropping the drone mid-air. Soon, he wants to race me against my Enterprise Air Hogs drone. I have a feeling that even the SS Enterprise can't keep up! This little drone is super fast! (tosses in Ultra, Mega, SUPER, FAST, Limited Edition - These are the words of my son when explaining his thoughts on the drone!).
Overall, if you love drones, flying toys, or seeing your child light up with happiness, this is for you! Even if your a kid at heart, this is a fun addition to have to any collection. Also, I am SO HAPPY it comes in GREEN! My 10 years old's favorite color is BRIGHT BRIGHT Green... so that was the cherry on top of his surprise!

Great Idea but Needs Tweaking

Interesting idea

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 2 piece Hyper Drift Drone is a cool idea. Out of the box and fully charged within an hour. As a combined drift “hovercraft “ it was pretty awesome. My 9 yr son loved playing with it. It was also easy enough for my 3 yr old daughter to play with by chasing the dog around.
That said as drone it was the same as many of the previous mini drones we have had before. It was not easy to control and not very easy to fly when we were able to get it in the air. We may have had a faulty one though because it would not hover very well but took off in a horizontal line whenever wanted it to rise up.

Awesome toy for boys

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My two boys love the Airhog 2 in 1 Hyper Drift Drone. My nine year old received this drone for his birthday. My twelve year old son loved it so much that he asked me to buy another one for him.
This drone can fly and also glide on the floors. It has a special attachment that is used to convert it from flying to gliding. It is easy to transform it from flying to gliding.

The controller is also easy to use. The two boys figured it out without reading the directions.
I think this toy is good for boys aged five or older. However, younger children will need help. The toy is made of flexible plastic. It has survived falls from high distances and running into walls. It seems like it will last for a while.
