Great Range With a Nasty Flaw

This is an interesting range at an affordable price (for a slide-in model).
The user interface for the oven control is fairly well designed and attractive. Response time for the screen is decent. One annoying detail is the fact that you cannot wipe any spill on the control glass panel when the oven is functioning - you risk to cancel the cooking because of the touch surface sensitivity. If at least Whirlpool designed paired the "cancel" button with a "sliding" confirmation on the touch-screen to avoid false cancellations.
The smart features offered through the phone are handy but can be finicky to configure properly. Also, the French language support in the app is botched, with several entries having non-existent translations and displaying the resource name instead. Basic testing was not performed and it makes me wonder what QA level is in place for software design at Whirlpool.
The oven cooking is very good, with excellent convection cooking. The oven volume is very high and, combined with 3 racks, it provides full coverage of all imaginable cooking scenarios.
The surface cooking is also good, fairly powerful for a radiant type. I do have a reserve though for the triple-size heating element because its fine-tuning is not that great since the single knob is split for the three sizes and therefore limiting the tuning range for each. There is only one indicator for cooking surface operation and a single one to indicate a hot surface. I understand the cost cutting principles but this is close to the bare limit - Whirlpool should really have one indicator per active heater and, ideally, a additional "hot surface" per element.
Also, please note that the user interface screen is exclusively limited to the oven operation. Again here, Whirlpool could have leveraged this screen to display the cooking surface status.
The flaw of this unit is the cooking surface durability. I previously owned a similar radiant cooking surface range for 20 years and it was still in pristine condition with a single minor scratch over all its service life. After a single month of use, this new one had several tiny scratches and developed a stain that seems to be permanent now - will all my efforts to eliminate it being unsuccessful. This is terribly disappointing, especially being known to take great care of my belongings.
If scratches and possible stains on you cooking surface are an issue for you, you have to unfortunately stay away from this product.
Outside of this, it's an interesting and good looking range.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The only real complaint we have it is very hard to read the knobs to tell what tempature the elements are set to and they are all differnt directions to set the temperatures

This oven is one year old. First it wouldn’t keep the right time. It took months to correct this issue. Second the oven light burns out every month. Third it is not self cleaning even though it is advertised as self cleaning. Fourth the stove top is very hard to keep clean. Fifth I can’t read the knobs without my glasses. Sixth the oven timer buzzer is too guilt. So dissatisfied with this stove. I am a senior citizen who has had numerous homes with numerous ovens of all makes. I wish I could pick another stove.

Difficult to clean
