Great features and exact fit where the old one was

We replaced a GE Profile glass top burner that was 21 years old. The reason for replacement was a cracked glass top. It has nice style and lighted knobs. The old Profile served us well.

Burner knobs are not steel

It’s working great and everything but one of my burner knob got burnt and melted half with the heat I have from pot above the burner. That’s weird. Can GE replace it??

Proper fix for control markings

I love the cooktop, but as I have read from others, the control markings rub off with the slightest provocation. I work at a factory that produces etched metal plates, so I was able to duplicate the control markings raised on a laser cut thin metal plate. (less the GE trademark of course). As part of the production, it was matte chrome plated for durability and appearance. It fit perfectly and looks very smart on the cooktop. Perhaps GE could offer a similar item as a repair part. Cooks great… but…

Cooking is perfect but appearance & craftsmanship is severely lacking. As others have mentioned, the knobs melt & the silver coating comes off too easily. The “OFF”, “LITE”, etc guides have rubbed off of the metal plate and just looks terrible.
