Very bad design

I had the gas connected yesterday, and started making lunch, and immediately the left front knob started melting. I am furious. I cook a lot on my cooktop and this is totally unacceptable. My previous cooktop was GE profile performance that I had for almost 20 years without any problem. This cooktop is a complete design failure. Your engineers should be ashamed of themselves. Even when I first looked at it I had my concerns regarding the placement of the knobs, I thought it was too close to the flame and would be difficult to place big pots. But I thought GE would have tested it out and thought it must be ok. But I was very wrong

Looks nice but poor design and materials

The knobs are made of cheap material that gets damage with heat. The grills should have been place farther away from knobs to prevent this and/or make the knobs with better material.

We have only had this cook top for just over a month and it’s already started to rust in spots. Super annoying considering it’s brand new and not holding up to brand standards.

Plastic control knobs are already peeling. Need new control knobs ASAP. Stainless steel scratches very easy. Burners tops get dirty very easy and it is very difficult to clean them.

Value for money

I got this appliance as a part of home warranty replacement. Look and feel of appliance is good. The knobs are placed at a height more than the grill which bring them in contact with hot pots/pans and tend to damage them. Being made of low grade plastic, the knobs get damaged pretty easily and destroy the looks of the cooktop.

Stainless steel finish is horrible
on January 13, 2020

The finish on the stovetop is awful, scratches very easily. The rubber pads on the stovetop for grid placement should be on the grids, not on the stovetop surface. When you are trying to place the grids back, in a very precise location where the rubber pads are, it scratches the stainless steel. At least if the rubber pads were on the grids themselves, and you were unable to very precisely place them, no scratches. Also the knobs don't seem to be metal, but some material that melts. I took a hot baking pan out of the oven and placed it on the stovetop, a corner of the pan touched the knob and literally melted the finish off the spot it touched. Also, the ceramic parts that are on top of each burner, they are stained from the oil spatter. We purchased all new kitchen appliances about 2 months ago and love them all, except for this horrible GE Stovetop. We are so extremely disappointed, and for what the stovetop costs, the finish should be one that can tolerate replacing grids without scratching the surface. I hate to see what this will look like as time goes on. It is still new, in our opinion, but already looks horrible.
