What NO ONE TELLS YOU! Loud Banging Noises & more

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 1. It makes RANDOM LOUD BANGING and CRACKING NOISES. These noises sometimes sound like ice cracking apart and falling (defrosting a coil?) and/or sometimes just single loud bang/pop. People online speculate it's freon expansion, or parts tapping one another (I'd lean toward freon etc and also sometimes ice on the coils melting/cracking? as it does not sound like parts impacting one another). I can say it is NOT from the ice maker as we do not have a water line even hooked up. The noises must be from the mechanical parts, or potentially parts contracting or expanding rapidly. It is not often that this happens, but it DOES happen REGULARLY (as in every day). Though the Frigidaire people may say "It's normal" it is certainly NOT expected that a product purported to be of high quality would make such shocking sounds at random times to annoy and worry its owners. I'd seriously say this this is a major engineering problem/oversight, from a consumer happiness standpoint. They say this may be "normal" operational noises but no one wants to hear them from a $2000 product. But if your bedroom is right next to the kitchen, you'd better think twice b/c you WILL hear these in the middle of the night. 2. The motor is quiet even though it runs almost all the time. 3. The doors ARE magnetic (yay!). 4. The veggie drawers are *separate* so you can remove 1 for more room if you don't need both, unlike most other fridge models, which was a big selling point for me. I like the interior design - the interior design really sold it for me over other brands. I am not sure I recommend this or not. I like the interior space and design a lot.. But if I knew about the banging noises before I would not have purchased. Frigidaire needs to be frank with themselves, find out what these pops and cracking sounds are, and find a way to rectify them, even if they aren't impacting actual cooling performance. And maybe even tell owners what they are so we can stop worrying. These sounds are impacting user happiness and degrading loyalty. This would be a 5-star fridge if there were no random cracking and pop sounds.

Seems to work but makes a loud Crack!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is a month old and so far it seems to work ok but it makes a tremendous cracking sound every once in a while. It has some pops that are a bit loud and a few gurgles and sighs but these are quite mild.
I haven't been able to figure out if there is a pattern in frequency or if it is preceded by something like hearing the compressor turn on but I do know it wakes me up sometimes in the night and if I'm sitting at the kitchen table, it makes me jump.
I have never had a fridge make this sound - growing up we had an ancient fridge that had a loose compressor that banged against the side when it cut on - this sounds a bit like that but sharper.
It is huge and holds everything; the drawers all work; the door shelves are fully adjustable; the freezer is plenty large so I'd give this at least a 4 star rating if it didn't make the loud noise.

Terrible ice maker

Refrigerator is 4 months old. Very slow at making ice. Today could not get drawer open as a layer of ice had formed under the freezer drawer. Every time drawer is pulled out ice falls on floor. Seems water is running down back of freezer onto the bottom instead of making ice, this is the ice sheet I took off bottom of freezer.

first one awful; second one great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first refrigerator that they delivered was so loud you could hear it throughout the first floor of our house and was so loud you had to turn the volume up on the TV to hear it over the refrigerator sound. The Frigidaire representative wanted to send sound dampening pads to be installed in a brand new refrigerator. I was thankful that the store agreed to replace it with a new one (same model) and they dealt with Frigidaire. The new one they delivered is fine. No constant loud noises like the first one. Don’t let them tell you that the loud sounds are normal. They obviously are not since the second one was fine. I would rate the appliance store very well for their responsiveness and Frigidaire poor because their representative was completely useless in resolving this problem. Why should you have to put sound dampening pads in a brand new refrigerator? What does that say about the product that they even have such materials to install after the fact?

Always Have Big Noise for No Reason!

Since then, the big noise happens a few times a week. Once I was on the phone, the person on the other side can hear it, terrible!

Does what a fridge should do!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this Frigidaire due to having problems with multiple other brands (Electrolux and Samsung) and this unit is solid. We opted for this model due to not needing or wanting high tech, just need it to keep our food cold and make great ice. This does both extremely well, and the freezer has far more room than our previous models. 100% satisfied!

More space!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to replace a previously bad fridge purchase. This new one doesn’t have ice/water in the door feature which we didn’t want as our old one caused so much trouble for us. Without it, there’s so much more room in the refrigerator section and it’s easier getting the ice out of the bucket in the freezer anyway. Hopefully it’ll hold up in the long run, but as for now we are very pleased!
