Hinge Clips Broke During Second Use

This is a great waffle maker, except for the fact that the snap in hinge pins broke while in use. Sad part is that it was only the second time I got to use the waffle maker. In the process of finding out how difficult it will be to get new pins.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cheap plastic hinges broke within three weeks.

Loved the waffels but the plastic hinges broke after about 12 waffels. There is no parts list.

Hing pins break almost immediately.

The second time I used it the plastic snap-in hinge pin end broke on the left side, on the forth usage the right side fell out. the non stick surface is not that greas either.

This is the second Black and Decker Belgian Waffle Maker that we have purchased. Our first one lasted two months and the plastic hinge bolt cracked and fell out. Our second try with another new waffle maker and the same problem with the plastic hinge pins, except these broke on the very first use. Very disappointing.

I loved this after I first got it...but now with both hinges having broken and the new too expensive replacement doing the same after the first use, I would not recommend it.

We have had this unit for a short time and used it very little. This last weekend, my wife had the experience of the upper plate tilting out of alignment on opening. This was due to one plastic "pivot pin" having fractured, had both pins fractured the unit could have come apart posing a burn and possibly an electrical hazard. My inspection of the pin shows that the pin has visible gas pockets at the junction (fracture) of the barrel and head. I will not be purchasing a replacement B-D item.

After only a few uses, the little black buttons that cover the hinges broken. My son had the same model and his did the same thing....I WON'T be buying another!!!!

The waffle maker is a great size and works great until the little plastic hinges break. On our first one it was after 25-30 uses so we assumed it was just a fluke. On our second one it was after our third use. It is just a cheap little piece of plastic that has to hold the top up while you load batter. I wish they would make it just a little bit better and it would be the perfect waffle maker.
