No Screen Protection

Like others here, I bought this assuming that there would be a screen protector (which is the main purpose of buying this case instead of the others). The case just came in, and I am disappointed to see it does not have a screen protector. And now the recommendation is to get the Alpha Glass protector, on top of the cost of the case and the phone???

Great design but surprisingly disappointed

I'm a big fan of Otterbox and have used a defender case on every phone and tablet I have owned. I am going to agree with the other's that placed reviews for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus Defender case in saying it's a big disappointment that a screen protector is not incorporated in this case like previous Defender models. Having the built in screen protector is a huge selling point as a consumer, so to now spend money on a case then an Alpha Glass on top of that is a big let down. The Galaxy S7 Edge is curved more than the S8 is and there's a Defender case with screen protector, so I don't exactly fall for the text book answer of " we decided that eliminating the screen protector provides the best experience ". Simple business 101, give the consumer's what they want. Don't reinvent the wheel ! If what you produce is selling appealing to the consumer then run with it. I hope Otterbox reconsiders this design and comes out with a Defender case like it's predecessor. As far as the rest of the case is concerned, the design is great and comfortable. The silicone skin has a more firm fit and doesn't slip off as easy as previous versions which is great. Also the case is more streamline slim, also a plus.

The Defender is NOT a Defender - not without a screen protector. Bought a s8 plus, bought an Otterbox Defender, and the case had to go back. As a long standing customer, i'm off elsewhere for a tough case.

Small for a defender

I held this case up to the symmetry case I got and they are very close if not the exact same thickness. I usually buy a defender for my work and a symmetry for everyday use but this defender is so thin that when you take it apart you have to be super careful not to break the tabs or the top frame. It is real tight to get apart and I am not looking forward to switching it. ( I only switch it because I need to work case to look clean and presentable). If you are getting a symmetry I would not even get this defender to tell you the truth or vice versa. As far as the screen protector goes I usually rip them out as soon as I get them because I hate when dirt would get behind it and I would have to open it up and wipe it out. I understand the phones are bigger now and the cases have to be lighter but this seems real cheaply made for a defender.
