Well Built Induction Range

I did some extensive research before purchasing this range, as all induction ranges are rather expensive. This one seemed to have all the features I needed, without a lot of extras I would never use. I was not disappointed - it works great while being simple to use. Several features that distinguished it from others: the heat settings on the range go in half steps from 1 to 10, so it is easy to get a setting with just the right heat. The controls are a glass panel that are touch operated, making the control area easy to clean an very accessible. The oven has 7 positions for racks, and it comes with an "extension" rack that I find convenient - it pulls out much easier than the normal friction racks that are standard on most ovens. The oven seems to be fairly accurate in temperature, and also fairly uniform. Also, common to all induction ranges, the cooktop heats extremely fast, and since the cooktop does not get hot (only as hot as the pan) spills do not get baked in, so the cooktop is very easy to clean. Some things to be aware of: The lowest setting for the oven is 170 deg. F, so you can't use the oven for proofing bread - at least not directly. The warming drawer is also too hot for this as well. The range seems to be designed to push up against a wall. I am using it in an island, and there is no simple way get the rear of the cooktop to blend in with the island surface - it looks a bit unfinished, but is not a serious issue for us, and a clever installer might be able to add some trim material to cover the gap that shows at the rear of the cooktop. The main weak areas for this range: The warming drawer is a bit flimsy in that it just feels like it is made of too thin sheet metal - in stark contrast to rest of the range which feels very solid. The oven also hits you with a blast of hot air when you open it, and I am not sure why this is worse with this oven than other ovens. I never noticed this with my previous Jenn-Air oven. You quickly learn to avoid standing over the oven when opening the door. Common to all induction ranges, you also should be aware that the cooktop does not spread heat at all, and all burden for spreading heat is placed on the pan. So if you place a rectangular griddle designed to span two burners, it will work, but the heat will be very uneven - being hot right under the induction elements, but the heat will fall off quickly as you move away from the areas directly under the elements. Unlike a gas cooktop, there is no convection heating, and with a conventional electric smooth cooktop, there is some convection and conduction heating of the cooktop that helps with spreading heat beyond just the burner. Not so with induction.

Unreliable. Stove/oven repaired twice in three years. Same problem of powering off unexpectedly. Just had a third breakdown. Will be replacing rather than repairing

Took over a month to receive this range, guess it's just that new or in demand. Quality is great, and installation wasn't too hard. Only advice I could give is to definitely pay attention to the height of your counter tops to ensure the glass top clears them. Bought this for the looks, past experience with GE Profile products and the safety of having an induction range with kids running around the house. Boils water like a champ, but I wish the included meat thermometer was a little longer. Overall we love this product.

This slide in induction range replaced a 5year old duel fuel Kenmore range that quite working on Thanksgiving day (electronic quite again). Altho I've used gas for the better part of 40 years, I was talked into the duel fuel when we remodeled. Didn't like the electric oven -- took way too long to pre-heat. I love EVERYTHING about this range. It's sleek looking, stainless very easy to keep clean, cook top also easy to clean and yesterday I cooked a bottom round roast using the probe and it was the most tender, moist roast I have ever cooked. And it cooked fast. There is a learning curve with this induction range but I use the number pads as I did when cooking with gas. (My husband used the flame height so he's having a harder time) We also had to purchase new induction compatible cookware and what a difference that makes too. Pans heat evenly and are extremely easy to clean. This stove goes with us if ever we have to move or I'll give it to one of my children. So far, GOOD JOB GE. My only complaint is the owners manual lists some features (slow cook, pizza) that aren't included with this model and wish they were but can work around.
