Alternative to unreliable membrane switches

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this unit to replace another manufacturer's oven because the membrane switch failed and was no longer available. The Bosch oven has wonderful dials for temperature and cook mode selection that have great movement that simply put feels precise! The experience so far is great with more even cooking than my previous convection oven. The soft start lights that slowly light up and shut off with the opening and closing of the door are just another nice touch that makes this unit feel superior. I am old school in my outlook on things and the fact that this unit does not have a touch switch that will fail long before the oven does is a true bonus.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Problem right from the start

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had the oven installed and tested it. The oven works, but the electronic display is malfunctioning, right out of the box. When turning the dial to set the temperature, it works correctly up to 225 degrees, but if you keep turning to a higher temp the display temp starts to go down, 200, 175, 150 etc. If you set the dial to 400, the screen shows 100, and if you go beyond 400, it reverts back to the clock. Very disappointed. Home Depot did nothing except refer me to Bosch, Bosch can't get someone out here for 2 weeks, so we have an authorized 3rd party service repair company coming in 3 days. We'll see what happens, but for such an expensive appliance I am very disappointed in their quality control and reaction.

Pretty Good, but.....

The oven functions very well and looks great. Two things keep it from being 5 stars: It doesn't include a roll out rack which I feel is really lame and cheap for an oven in this price range. Also it is not easy to see at a glance if the oven is on. A simple red indicator light would have been great. Otherwise, cooks fine and the temps are accurate.

Exploded oven glass when used self cleaning

After first time used self cleaning, the interior glass exploded. It was 11/26/2020 around 6PM, the Thanksgiving Day. After we baked the turkey, thought to use this feature which I never tried since bought this oven. It was very scary in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner. Googled this incident, then found many many same explosions happened to many Bosch oven owners after using the self cleaning since 4 years ago in Houzz. I think Bosch should recall this product and send warning to the registered owners, retail stores, make them aware of this scenario.

Perfect oven!

I had this oven installed a month ago and am so pleased with it that I need to write a review. I read about loud fans which stay on to cool down all the electronics on the panels, so I decided to purchase the 500 with the knobs. I fan still stays on to cool the oven and panel, however it is barely noticeable and doesn't stay on for long. I would definitely recommend this oven!

Great features but......,,

The digital panel went out one month after the warrenty expired & this does not even get into my Bosch washer that is rusting out after 4 years. NO MORE BOSCH products for me! Have a Bosch dishwasher, which is newest appliance & I LOVE but waiting for last shoe to drop. Will look else for my appliances.

Beautiful oven, poor software

Really well made with the look and feel of much higher end ovens. Beautiful eternal control knobs, well sizes lettering for the different settings. Solid interior equipment and excellent lighting. The cooling fan, which vents directly outward, right above the control panel, is a good idea for keeping electronics cool, but be careful when setting the oven into a wall unit; our oven blows directly into my eyes when I walk by...
As others had noted, the software running the user interface needs some refining!
• The timer is totally cryptic, with no clear display of progress up to the time one wants; instead, it jumps in arbitrary amounts, causing the user to have to press +/- repeatedly, occasionally needing to be cleared and reset.
• The 'Preheat' red display is uninformative, with no sense of rate of increase of temperature, an important piece of information! And it isn't accurate with regard to the actual heat; one can set the oven to Bake@ 350˚ and of course the preheat light goes on BUT at some point when the actual temperature is moved to a lower temp and then back to 350˚ the light will go off. So...when is it actually 350˚? Measuring with two different manual thermometers says one thing, the oven says another.
• Finally, the cooling fan I mentioned earlier has a discernible 'howl' at roughly an F/F# below A440, which actually carries farther than the timer alert sound.

Cooking has never been easier
