This printer repeatedly goes offline.

This printer goes offline for no discernible reason. When it does, I have to shut it off, unplug it, plug it back in, and repeat this process several times before the blue light stays on...not very wifi compatible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good when it works

I bought 17 of these printers for my school to replace old Dell 1700 laserjets. The lack of an ethernet port was accidentally overlooked, but we had refreshed the wifi system, so we moved forward with the m102w. The printers don't have an option to shut the sleep mode off, and sometimes didn't wake properly. A firmware update seems to have helped it to a degree, but the response is usually to turn the wifi back on or restart the printer. One unit recently decided to start shredding the right side of anything it printed. Been a big fan of HP, but this one misses the mark.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I'm glad that you seem to think it is a pretty good printer (but with some reservations). Let's see if we can help bring your opinion upwards after doing some adjustments.
While it does appear that the energy conservation setting for sleep mode cannot be turned off completely, the timing can be changed to suit your schedule better perhaps. Also, the auto-off can be disabled on most of our printers. Check the user manual for how to do that for the OS you are using: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05172884
Cleaning the rollers should help the unit that is having feeding problems. Instructions for doing that are shown in this online document: support.hp.com/document/c05286891

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised to received a small and light weight package. The print quality is exceptional just as expected from HP. Wireless printing is a nice touch. Only complaint is that it randomly stops printing during the printing process. Other than that, it works well.
