Exquisite Design

This is a uniquely beautiful television. When its off, it looks like a painting or photography, not a TV. It becomes a television when you want it. The optional frame is genuine wood. The set up was very easy. I had budgeted 2 hours to configure the device, but completed the whole task in a few minutes, including connecting to WiFi and Amazon. I wish all my devices worked this well. The remote is simple, no irrelevant tabs, I am impressed, convinced and recommend the Frame.
Pros: beautiful and well thought out design
I would recommend this to a friend!

Simple TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A couple of observations of this TV.
1. The no gap wall mount actually puts the tv directly against the wall. This is a great value since it is included with the TV
2. Comes with the invisible connecter and One Connect box which make it easy to hide components into a closet. While still being able to control them with the remote
3. The universal remote is truly universal. Connected Directv, Xbox One and Apple TV and was recognized with HDMI being plugged in and device on. no having to custom program the buttons. (after using Logitech Remotes, this is much easier)
4. App Bar is fantastic. Can move my apps around and also the inputs are treated like apps so it is very easy to switch between directv, hulu, netflix ....
5. Speaker quality is much better than other tv's ( I stopped using a Yamaha Soundbar because the quality was good and looked better)
6. The Frames are clever as they are easy to install and are magnetic.

Neat idea, Poor Execution
on December 6, 2018

Bottom Line: Neat idea, poor execution, I'd stay away from Samsung for a while.
The Bad:
Software -
- Advertisements hijack your TV. The main menu that allows you to select between sources and all of the smart apps will start to advertise content to you.
- Updates will continue even after you turn them off.
- More than half of on-board storage is used up by apps that cannot be deleted.
- The apps that cannot be deleted collect data from your device and send it out via wifi (most likely to sell it). I verified this by monitoring my device traffic at the router.
- The apps you can delete will automatically reinstall themselves no matter what.
- ***comments about customer support are not allowed in Samsung reviews***
- The user interface on many of the apps is annoying. Streaming apps will auto-play selected content while browsing (cannot be turned off), lists and categories of movies can be difficult to navigate, and simple tasks like adding a selected title to your favorites will require between 5-10 button presses on the included remote.
- The art mode has ridiculously limited format options for the artwork and no slideshow mode.
- The art store is rather expensive for digital art.
Hardware -
- The television is a very expensive paperweight without the One Connect box (included). It will not function at all without it. All you will see is an image on the screen telling you to connect your One Connect box until it is connected. No way around it, period. All of the HDMI and audio connections live in that box along with the "brain".
- The connection to that box is a proprietary cable.
- At the time of writing this, there are no aftermarket manufacturers of this cable.
- The current price for this cable is ***prices are not allowed in Samsung reviews*** and could be compared to round trip airfare from Denver to NYC.
- Cable is VERY fragile
- Cable rarely lasts 6 months according to 100% 1 star rating of product on the Samsung website.
- It appears that Samsung changes the connection at the TV every year. That means that the availability of this cable is low, limited, and likely short-lived. Again, and I can't stress this enough, the TV will not function at all without this super-rare, proprietary $$$ glass-like wire that has a shelf life of less than 6 months.
- The art mode does not pass as anything other than a TV or digital picture frame. The videos where people are surprised that the painting was a TV are laughable.
Installation -
- If you want to use the flat mount (included) you may be very limited on mounting locations. There's no horizontal adjustment to the mount and it's designed to be centered on a stud. So if the exact center of your mounting location has a stud centered there and your other studs are 16" center to center, you're good. Since there's only about a statistical 3% chance of that, you may have to explore other options. (1/2" of stud center for every 16", if you were wondering about those statistics) You can get another mount, but it won't be flat against the wall. You can live with your TV being off center and just go to nearest stud. Or if you're not into compromise, you can have a custom fitted to your wall flat mount fabricated somewhere.
The Good:
- The picture is bright, clear, and high quality.
- When mounted flat with cables routed through the wall, it looks very clean and flat.
- The art mode is much nicer to look at than a TV that is turned off.
- I haven't noticed any "burn-in" with the art mode displaying the same picture for days at a time (see above about no slideshow).
- I've had mine for about 8 months and the fragile cable that can turn my $$$$ TV into a brick has not needed to be replaced.
- Said cable is now obsolete (yes, 8 months after purchase), but still listed on the Samsung website ($$$).
Overall / Other Thoughts:
I like the TV. I hate all the spyware/bloatware. I cannot believe that that fragile little cable can render the entire unit useless. The customer support ***comments about customer support are not allowed in Samsung reviews***.
Those apps that cannot be removed are a problem. Samsung has made a deal with the owners of those apps to prevent you, the user, from removing them. Accidental clicks on pay apps would account for part of that revenue stream, but the larger part is likely the sale of user data through the app. The idea that I can't control the content on a device that I own bothers me on a fundamental level.
That ultra-fragile proprietary cable seems like it is designed to fail as part of forced obsolescence. People are reporting that it just fails without being touched.
I don't think I want to support a company like this in the future.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Best TV I've Ever Owned
on August 21, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Frame Tv's picture is rich and vibrant. During our first evening watching it, we played a movie that's an old favorite of ours. We were surprised to see that although our previous tv was a newer 4K model, we noticed details that we'd been unable to see on our old television. The speakers are also very good. Usually I attach a surround system to my television. I'm pleased with this tv right out if the box.
The Frame TV comes with a system to mount it flush against the wall. I love the idea, but it wasn't the right set up for our needs. Last year we had a carpenter build a recessed space with outlets in our wall to hold the tv. We then installed a tv mount on an arm that swivels, so the tv can be pulled out of the wall and turned to face anywhere in the living room or kitchen. My husband was able to use our existing setup to mount The Frame TV. It looks amazing. He just needs to finish hiding the wiring, and the installation will be complete.
The art choices that come with the tv are plentiful. There's enough variety so that I'd be surprised if you couldn't find something to suit your taste. I like the way you can choose the style of matte, or even no matte, for the art. I have the white magnetic bezel on my TV, and it looks fabulous. When the TV is in art mode, it's indistinguishable from the surrounding pieces of artwork. The TV simply disappears. Love it!
I would definitely recommend this TV.

I love the TV but I have veritical banding during certain scenes

First off,,, design wise it is awesome ... I love the idea of an art piece that blends into our place. I realize it doesn't have the same guts as say the Q line... I was ok with that. If you want the most cutting edge I'd say this isn't the tv for u ... try the Q line or just jump into an OLED if that's your thing. BUT coming from an old 2003 plasma 720p tv this thing is amazing.
My only gripe is during say ..blue sky scenes... even in the self diagnostic test image of the beach scene with the blue sky... I can see vertical banding.. I guess it's just bad luck with the backlight. It's not the end of the world..but for the price I was bummed to see this happen. Once again.. it could be just bad luck.
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: vertical banding
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best TV Ever
on September 21, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had no TV in my living room because i disliked the giant black screen that did not match with anything else in the room. This TV blends in with everything else in the the living room.
The beautiful artwork makes it look like just another art piece on the wall.
It has great build quality, amazing picture quality, exceptional sound for a TV and smart features to die for.

You can't turn off advertisements, do not buy

It sucks so much that you cannot under any circumstances disable the advertisements that display in the main ui. Any time you do anything on this TV you will be force-fed an ad. Disgusting.
Heck, I'm even getting ads for samsung's new QLED tvs, and I JUST GOT THIS ONE
Pros: Bright display
Cons: can't turn off ads
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Frame TV 55 inch combine beauty with vibrance
on August 25, 2017
Posted by: Veekay44
from East Northport
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I are retired and watch television quite a lot on a daily basis. He remembers his first black and white 9" tv set. His aunt who was the private secretary to the president 's company brought it over. My husband was hooked, he can tell the names of tv series, actors, etc from that era. Over the years, he acquired bigger and better sets. And of course, the color tvs.
Nothing prepared him for the beauty of The Frame TV 55 inch. The man who complains about any physical exertion, was enthusiastic. He opened the package with no effort whatsoever. I helped get the tv, and the various items out, but he insisted in setting up everything himself. He kept commenting how easy it is to add the invisible optical connection cable. Then, how thin the cable is compared to the thick cables we have to the VCR, to the blu-ray, etc.
Then, it was time to put up the Frame. We agreed on the color and finally turned the tv on. We were both amazed at how easy it is to scroll through the various icons, and especially how to set up the wifi. It is intuitive. The true test was when we turned onto a channel. We were blown away by the vibrant colors on the screen. It felt like the field of flowers on the screen were in our den, waiting to be picked.
Then came the time to choose an "Art" picture. There was a large choice that came with The Frame, plus we would be able to add some from our iphone. We finally decided on the Birds, whose realism our little dog barked at, first,
