Good product, great size

Philips gave me this product to review and I used it a few times to make pasta for my family of four. The appliance was easy to set-up and was smaller than I expected. I read through the manual thoroughly before starting which I recommend as there are some things to take note of before starting to make the pasta.
I liked that there were recipe suggestions for different types of pasta, including vegetable pasta and different flour types. I chose to use all purpose flour in my pasta recipes as it is what I had on hand. The recipes were easy to follow and the process was pretty fast. I tired both penne noodles and spaghetti noodles. At first the pasta come out a bit shaggy but then it starts to look nicer after a couple of minutes. I doubled the basic recipe as recommended in the instruction book and got more than enough pasta for a family of two adults and two young children.
This was my first time making fresh pasta but this machine made it easy. The penne pasta was a bit thick and chewy for my preference, my guess would be that this would be improved by trying different types of flour but I haven't had the chance to do that yet. The spaghetti pasta was a better texture for my liking. The taste was okay but nothing spectacular. Again, I think that using a different flour type would improve this as well.
I was not looking forward to the clean up process as the appliance has a lot of small pieces but it actually went rather smoothly. There wasn't much left over pasta dough in the machine, what was left was fairly easy to scrape off the pieces. The cleaning tools proved to be very helpful in getting the dough out of the small holes and creases. I found hat the clean up went faster when I removed the dough as much as possible before getting the parts wet.
Overall, I'm impressed with this product. For its size and cost it does a good job at making quick, fresh pasta. I'm looking forward to trying some new recipes to change the flavours of the pasta.

To date I have only used my pasta maker on one occasion (but it's Friday as I write this, so that may change tonight!), and it worked flawlessly. From start to finish, I had fresh fettuccine in 18 minutes! Ingredients are so simple and after eating fresh pasta I don't see myself going back to the dried stuff. Clean-up is a snap and the slim profile of the unit allows me to tuck it in cupboard with ease!
It makes for a quick meal both weeknights and weekends. I would recommend this pasta maker to anyone who enjoys fresh pasta!!

Love it Love it Love it!
This compact size is perfect for my small kitchen. While sauce is warming up, fresh pasta comes out of the machine.
Also, works great on Asian style noodles.

The only thing I am not happy with is... other types of discs such as angel pasta or thick spaghetti are not available for the moment. I am looking forward to buy them once available.
Pros: fits perfect on small kitchen, easy to use easy to clean
Cons: only 3 discs are available.

The only downside is that the selection of disk is very limited for the Viva. You have to go to other companies and spend extra money for an adapter
