We normally just make due in summer with fans because where we are from there are usually only a week or two of unbearably hot days. But with a new baby and her not sleeping through the first hot night, we New we needed an air conditioner. The portable unit it great. Our windows open side ways and you can easily adjust the vent to work with that style window. Plus it looks nice in the window. There is an adjustable plastic surround that goes into the open window. There is no heavy lifting to put the unit into a window. Plus, is works wonderfully to cool down the room. Has a very easy to read display with user friendly buttons. We didn’t even know potable air conditioners existed. Wish we had gotten this years ago, even if we only had a few super hot summer days. Just so easy to use. We want a second one for another room.
