Door alarm useless

We've had this fridge for about a year and since new the door sometimes closes normally but occasionally seems to bounce as if it hit something and come to rest about an inch open (NO, there is nothing hitting - I have checked that multiple times and there is no sound of anything actually hitting). The door alarm would be a very useful feature except that it is barely loud enough to hear when you are in the same room, let alone from the next room. It would be best if the door always closed properly but failing that it would be nice if it was possible to make the alarm louder.
