This model originally failed to meet Energy Star specs and so, was modified adding more insulation. Failed twice I am told. Now meets Energy Star specs, but the old performance results are still being published. This unit is supposed to be able to reach -13 to -17 C in the freezer when it is set to the half way point, according to those published performance results. It does not do this even when turned up all the way! The best I have gotten in the freezer is between -8 to -12 degrees C; worse when the room temperature drops. I got a technician to look at it but he said it was working properly and further tells me that it is acceptable today for a refrigerator freezer to be -12 degrees C, while a "deep freezer" easily reaches -18 C. Every expert I have found, including Health Canada and the USDA and FDA all say a freezer should be -18 C or cooler, for food preservation and safety.
The only advice the technician could give me, since this model can not have a "garage" heater installed, to trick the thing into running more, when room temperature drops, is to wire in a 20 watt light bulb into the fridge controlled by a thermometer outside the fridge, that turns the bulb on when room temperature drops below 17 degrees C. Just for 3 or 4 month of the year!
Anyone want to trade an old fridge that doesn't meet Energy Star specs for a bran new Frigidaire? You know, a fridge that actually freezes to industry standards? Maybe you want a fridge that keeps ice-cream soft and only needs to preserve frozen foods for a few weeks???

Refrigerator Section OK, Freezer is Terrible

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We're not even a month in and I will be calling for service or calling the store to take it back. Temp. in freezer varies from 0 to 20 degrees. Ice cream is the texture of a smoothie. Adjustments to settings do nothing. So disappointed.

Great "Garage Ready" Fridge!
