10,000 BTU Smart Air Conditioner

Beautiful design

Not so "smart"

Conclusion: Great looks and good function, but the smart features not worth the extra dough if that's what you're after.

This air conditioner works perfectly for cooling air, looks much nicer than my old unit, and is extremely easy to maintain given the super easy filter cover that magnetically attaches and detaches for cleaning.

Smart features are underwhelming with sloppy execution
That being said, the "smart" features are neither robust nor reliable. The app does not work when I'm not at home connected to the same wifi as the unit, and even when I am home, I often have to reset the app and/or reconnect to the air conditioner itself to get it to work. Basically, the wifi features boil down to a glorified scheduling timer since I can't seem to get them to work remotely.
For my purposes, this isn't really an issue, because I have it set up to run a schedule that keeps the room comfortable during the times I typically use it during the summer. When fall hits, I'll change the schedule, and in winter I'll just turn it off completely. So it's not too much of a hassle, but if you want something sophisticated that really ties into your smart-home system, look elsewhere.
My biggest complaint is that I wanted to tie this to a smart thermostat via wifi that could control the AC unit based on whether I'm in the room or not and learns my habits so I wouldn't have to program it at all, and when my schedule changed, the unit would adapt automatically. While this may be possible, I haven't gotten anything like that to work yet, and considering the obviously minimal attention Frigidaire has paid to the app, I doubt it would be a reliable set-up in any event. Maybe I'm wrong and they'v e fixed some of the things I'm complaining about, but I am too busy right now to check and have kind of given up on hoping for a fix. If that's the case, I will update my review when I try out any new features/updates.

Nice unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, we like this AC unit. We have three of them in various rooms in our house and they all do a good job of keeping our house cool. We love being able to use the app and control the temperature while we’re out. It also looks great in our window as opposed to the other styles that look like big metal and plastic boxes. The only issue we’ve had is that the temperature read out on the unit does not line up with our thermostat. For example, the unit will read that it is 68 in the room, when our thermostat is reading that it is actually 70. This also means that we have to set the temperature a few degrees lower than what the unit is reading in order for it to actually kick on when in eco mode. Overall, we’re happy with this AC unit!
