[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] AC broke during heat wave. The repair tech could not come out for 3 days and I have a contract for repair service. Good luck finding a repair tech sooner during a heat wave. I bought this portable unit to keep my sanity from the extreme heat. This unit kept my main floor really cold for the 3 days that I used it. I placed a fan behind the unit to circulate the cool air to a greater distance pushing some of the cool air to the second level floor. I live in a town home, so not sure how well it will do in a larger home. The only issue I have with the unit is I wasn't comfortable cutting the plastic to size the window vent, so I left it alone for fear of cracking the adjustable slider. It had some overlap, but it still worked fine. A problem that I ran into is that the window used to vent the hot air has an Alarm sensor that had to be disabled. So, a burglar would easily be able to breach the window if you worry about things like that. The unit does not come with a water discharge hose, so you may want to pick one up if you buy this unit. I had an extra hose at home to use, but it would be nice if this unit came with a hose included. I would not have been happy to get home and have to go back to to the hardware store to buy a hose in 100 degree heat. It took about 10 minutes to setup and cool air came rushing out almost instantly after powered on. The unit may be heavy to carry in its box for some people. Box carton was packed really well. I did not have any struggles getting unit out of box. I have stored unit in basement since my AC central AC has been repaired, but plan on having this for years for any future breaks or to loan to family and friends if they lose AC in their homes. Overall this was a good purchase.

Exceptional unit for price!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this unit for my cabin which doesn't have central air access, worried it wouldn't have enough to cool entire 1400 foot space but I was wrong! Works great, keeps house cool and not too noisy. Had to have plexiglass made to fit into window area due to crank windows vs slide open windows but works like a charm!

I'm sure would be great in smaller room because air coming out is great but I purchased this for a larger room to help out with my central air unit and still cannot keep it cool.
