Pretty Good, but Cuts a Few Corners

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK, to be fair, I may have a bad taste in my mouth about this fridge. The first one I got was defective in some way, and it took 2 months and 7 service calls before Whirlpool agreed to replace it.That said...I like this fridge. It's the only one I have seen that is tall and not too deep without a water dispenser. It's not officially counter-depth, but it's close (and significantly cheaper than actual counter-depth). It is set up for an optional ice maker, which I'll probably add some day. My wife and I just had no interest in a water dispenser, and didn't want to lose so much freezer space to one.This fridge makes stuff cold. REALLY cold. I'm still tweaking the settings, but the freezer got down to -20F at one point, and things were starting to freeze on the fridge side. Here's my first quibble: more precise controls over the fridge and freezer would be nice, and more separated controls would be nice. As it is, the "fridge" control adjusts the actual thermostat and the "freezer" control opens or closes the vent between the two sections. So, getting both sides where you want them involves some finessing of both knobs.Internally, the shelves and drawers are a nice size. There's quite a bit of room for adjustment in the fridge door, some in the fridge body, but very few options on the freezer side. The crisper drawers are pretty flimsy, and I'm assuming I'll have to replace those within a couple years at best. Overall, the ratio of internal storage space to external cabinet space is pretty darn good.One last minor detail: the doors are stainless, but the sides are a dull gray plastic. Obviously, I knew that when I bought it, but I would have preferred the stainless extend on the sides. Depending on your kitchen layout, this could be irrelevant or very obvious. It's somewhere in between in my kitchen, and I'm considering how I might go about hiding the sides a little better.

Almost everything I was looking for!

I bought this fridge about four months ago and have been pretty happy with the temperature and other operations of the fridge. With small kids in the house it is nice that Whirlpool offers a model without the front ice/water dispenser. No mechanical problems yet. Excellent shelf and drawer positioning options as well! My only complaint is that the fruit and vegetable drawers don't glide on their tracks very well at all. Other than that this is an excellent product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The side shelf drawers are not positioned wright in the refrigerator. I taped them in because every time you try to remove something that is in them they come out of the refrigerator.

Perfect for my needs

Mediocre Fridge, Horrible Service

You get what you pay for. This fridge is of average quality. The paint falls easily, and the tracks for the drawers don't work well because there are no wheels. It's plastic on plastic. I'm less happy with Whirlpool's customer service. Unfortunately, I didn't have a positive experience. The guy I talked to on the phone kept saying "there is nothing Whirlpool can do, and no other person including his supervisor will be able to give me a different answer." Within the year I had technicians come out 3 times (my last fridge lasted over 15 years). Whirlpool has a policy that unless something is not fixable, they will absolutely not exchange or replace the item.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Perfect for us

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this about a month ago. Very happy, fits perfectly and we love the side by side freezer as opposed to the pull out drawer. We do not need a built in water/I've dispenser so it is nice to find a fridge without this.
