There really weren't any big surprises but at least I know for sure what nationalities I am. I'm an only child and I never knew my fathers side and everyone has passed on.

I liked all the history- 1000 yrs old! But I would have liked to have been to ascertain which Native Amercian tribes I derived from. The health component was a bonus and useful to family members.

I wanted to know my ancestry composition since I did not have a father's name on my birth certificate. Knowing this information, I now celebrate all the races that are in my ancestry composition.

Personally I was happy with the data results. That being said, I had difficulty understanding it completely. I did have to get help with the academic side of things. It would be more helpful if there was no anonymity as an option.

Much more accurate than the Ancestry DNA test

I've traced almost all my ancestry lines back to immigrants in the 1600's and 1700's. Predominantly English, other British, a few German, a few French, a few Swiss. Ancestry said I am 40% Viking and very little British. What? Then I read somewhere that Ancestry has difficulty identifying British DNA. What good is it then? I'm happy that 23andMe agreed with my research. Thank you!

The product came quickly. It was easy to use, just spit into a test tube like container. Mail it in and wait for the results. I was suprised at how quickly the results came.

Not what my mother told me.

My father died when I was 4YO. My mother always told me his father was Cherokee. Apparently the family lore was not 100 percent correct because I'm 95 percent from British and Irish stock. Dot 6 percent was from Asia/Indian so mom was wrong.
