50 years not knowing

Love 23andme my quest was to learn if I was genetically pre-dispositioned for any health issues because I had no history to go off of on my biological father's side. I learned that I should be relatively healthy if do my part to stay healthy. Oh, and I learned the small detail that after 50 years I have a brother and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Yep found my biological father (who passed before I could meet him) his family.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I had bought this kit during the summer to learn about my background and stuff like that, but had no idea they would connect me to so many relatives! I am so glad that I did this test and that I met so many relatives and bound to meet more! I am also surprised that they gave me a whole bunch of other results! Great website to connect with family and learn a lot more about yourself!

I was thrilled to get my report and instantly printed it out. 1.5 months later I revisited the site and pulled up my report. Much to my surprise my data is completely different ! how could this ? I sent one saliva sample. please explain.
I can't exactly recommend this to family and friends. thank you

Thank you for your feedback. The changes you described are caused by the population update we recently released. Your Ancestry Composition results were recalculated in order to receive this upgrade, so some changes are expected. Your results reflect the most up-to-date results available at this time.

We are constantly evaluating the performance of Ancestry Composition and when issues are identified that can lead to improvements in accuracy, those will be applied for all customers. Ancestry Composition is a living analysis, and customers should expect the results to continue to update as we make changes to the feature.

You can learn more about this population update on our blog here: https://blog.23andme.com/ancestry/new-african-east-asian-details-in-23andmes-latest-ancestry-composition-update/

No one responds or communicates. everybody on here are duds! I have no idea why people do this, I guess to see if they are neanderthal or something?

Thank you for your feedback. DNA Relatives locates other 23andMe members that match your DNA. This feature is one of many features that help to explore one's genetic genealogy, and it is important to keep in mind that customers use our service for a variety of reasons.

We are unable to determine if or when other 23andMe customers will respond to your sharing invitations or messages. We leave the option of responding to DNA Relatives introductions solely to the customer.

I purchased the DNA and Health test from 23 and Me because I wanted to know more about my biological "health". I am adopted and until recently had no real knowledge of my biological family. As I got older, the need to know more about what genetic traits and health risks I had increased. I had already use Ancestry DNA to learn more about my biological family, but still had no real knowledge of any medical issues that I should be aware of - until I used 23andMe. Overall the results I received back have been helpful. There are, however, some caveats that people need to be aware of. They test for a lot of medical issues - but they only test for some of the markers, not all. That does not necessarily surprise me and they are continuing to test for more as time moves forward. You need to decide how far into this you really want to go. Do you want them to continues to test your DNA as new tests become available? Do you want to share any of your information? Do you really want to know that you have both markers for Parkinsons or ALS? I don't think it is for everyone. I do think that for some of us - it is the closest thing we have to finding out aspects of our genetic health. For adoptees like me...it could make a great difference in our discussions with our doctors. Beyond that, the information you get back on specific traits is quite interesting and yes - I did actually find a 2nd cousin through this process.

Sorry, not a 23andMe fan. Have a very hard time finding where I entered data about my ancestry and the input fields did not allow me to get very specific. There is no place to upload a GEDCOM or otherwise enter a family tree - except to enter a link to point to one elsewhere. The user interface is terrifble and I find it too difficult to find where I put in that link! Health services are too mixed in with ancestry features and I find it annoying.
The only feature I might describe as "promising" is the DNA comparison feature. But I am forced to guess which matches "might" have matching segments. Better if your interface just TOLD us which matches have matching segments.
The only reason why I purchased the product was to see what the user experience was like.

23 and me

I am a member of Family tree, 23 and me and Ancestry DNA. I like the 23 and me the best so far. More explaining of what things mean would be better. The way 23 and me handles the information I feel like I understand the relationships better than with Family tree or Ancestry. I was taken from my family at birth so trying to find my family is why I am doing this. Your product to me is far better for the ones of us that can't spell DNA. This field of science is very new and beyond most to understand everything. So like I said a little more of how it all comes together would be helpful.
