I bought this years ago, I think Iowa’s 2017 and have been very pleased and occasionally surprised, recently the 0.2% Central Asian ancestry disappeared and the 0.2% unidentified as well so I am now 100% identified.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I got my initial results a couple years ago and they were very vague. My grandparents were relatively new to the US so we knew what country they were from (except my paternal grandfather) but not much more than that. Over time they have sent me updated information that provided greater insight into my ancestry. We knew my paternal grandfather was from Eastern Europe but not where so it was nice to learn more about where he came from. I appreciate that the information keeps coming and would recommend 23&me to anyone considering learning more about their ancestry. Process was easy and informative.

I did this like 2 or more years ago already and not long after doing it and getting my results the company actually had a security breach which wasn't comforting especially having just done one.
Otherwise it didnt seem that inaccurate. I basically did it for clarification on genetics and not much else.
The price wasnt really any different from any other one of these companies.
Honestly I dont think it matters that much which one you use. I just chose one I had heard of and honestly I wanted to do Ansestary but this one was on sale for a little less at the time.
Overall it is ok but it doesnt offer anything special or different from any other company you would use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It has been made so difficult to get into my information that I have decided not to try any more. I remain interested in learning more about my ancestry, but apparently it is not going to happen.

What are you talking about? I haven't bought anything new. My membership renewed that is all.
I am not happy with the changes because accuracy is way off, very disappointed. You retained control of the company and then messed everything up in the ancestry side of things. You don't have the DNA relationships correct in fact is was a little off to begin with and I have had trouble trying to correct the tree, it is a mess. The new Beta program is effected by the DNA relationship inaccuracy and sucks. The new Ancestry version is wrong because I already had genealogy documentation that supported the last one. All scandanavian DNA is gone including the Sammi gene. My ancestors founded all those lands. You did finally in the last version catch up with the Italian after 2000 years of DNA but keep messing it up, then eliminated other regional DNA that I have documented. In the new members I have added my DNA cannot skip my son and pass to my grandson, and it can't be a different location than mine. You were doing better before the shake up. Because I have about 6000 years of documentation for my maternal line while only 600 plus of my paternal line I know where we came from, I know the stories about my ancestors that have been passed through history unlike many of your members, so I know what is wrong, what is not correct.
I will continue for the medical especially due to the genome wide research that has just been done eager to see you apply it to our DNA and I will get premium for the others because you are leaving out some very serious conditions from their results and we need the documentation like that which has served me so well.
You have had the advantage over the industry, been the innovator and the most accurate but you are blowing it and because of new research there will be a push for more, which means demands will create more competition and you are slipping. You have the data to supply DNA info that was limited in the last study and cover other conditions that share factors with EDS, or more specfically hEDS. People have had so many diagnoses for years, stacking them up because they fit diagnostic criteria of other conditions when the whole time they are related to EDS, not just comorbidities. Or all those conditions linked to IL-6 dyregulation that have HLA indicators, those can be linked together even ADHD which no one thought of as autoimmune. Cardiac and vascular conditions like athero and arterioslcerosis a result of IL-6 dysregulation not diet, not stress, etc - you can help change the obsolete perspective medicine has and people can get real treatment, not bandaids or comforts stealing their lives. It is more important than ever because covid has proved age related diseases are not age related the common factor is IL-6 dysregulation and the gene expression changes made by covid and IL-6. The correlational work can be done with the members voulunteering for their data to be a part of research. The profession already tried to cancel you because you are changing medicine and challenging the status quo anyway, so go for it, force them out it if they can't or won't keep up and yes I have witnessed the words directly that they don't know what to do with research results so they don't bother. The public demands it, patients are tired of being blown off and you can force the change in thinking. But watch your back in the process, be careful who you trust from within. Things are getting sloppy, back track and reassess choices.

Countiuously upgraded information

I've been a member for several years. The Eastern European information is much improved. The latest updates in your algorightms for ansestry are much improved to match what I know from the details I have on most of my great grandparents. I am missing information on one and it seems to confirm the alternative theory my father had that his family name was realy english and not german. Everyone in Wisconsin got german corrections when they sent their kids to elementary school for spelling in school in the mid-late 1800s. This would appear to be confirmed.
