Not so great for the money

I bought a couple of tests a few years ago for a premium because they included the upgraded membership. And then when the company got sold, for some reason, my upgraded membership went away, and I was no longer premium. So that would be my complaint. Is that when these kids were put out it’s put out with a regular box and then they have a membership box where you get all the extra information For the rest of your life and since the company switched that has changed so I didn’t exactly get what I paid for

Purchased it as a gift, the intended recipient never received it. 23andMe was unable to provide tracking out of US. Wasted money.

Research this companies data protection history for yourself. Logging in takes several attempts and they keep adding additional layers you must get through to access your information. I wanted to export my information and they stated that could not be done without my emailing them my driver’s license, which I refused to do. I do not recommend this company at all. I also signed up for Ancestry DNA and that service has been far superior for my needs. I have not even tried to log into this account in well over a year. #wastedmoney

Private company can be sold and sell your data

I didn't realize that I wouldn't own my data. I wanted the test and data, but didn't realize that by using a private for profit company meant it wasn't protected like my medical labs are protected.

I don't know when I bought this product. I lost my code to verify 2 factor authorization. Most organizations will send an email and have a recovery process. Not 23 & me. I need to send a copy of my drivers license, a picture taken by my iPhone, plus other items that I have forgotten about. I am 91 and I have been a customer of 23 & Me for 15 years or more. I have had our DNA tested twice. At this point, I have no further interest in 23 & Me
