Genetic reports

I was wanting a more precise reports. By saying that I'm Asian doesn't tell me where I came from. The same with I'm English, and not Welsh.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.

Your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. As we update our reference data, it will not be uncommon to see slight shifts in your results over time.

I spent $30 for the DNA test plus sent $169 to get the health reports. All of these reports are extremely generic to a "group" and I have not found them useful to me at all.

Being a female, i did not find out anything interesting to me. Not very specific. Didn't need to know about my ear wax.

Thank you for your feedback. The majority of our tools and features use your autosomal DNA, so both men and women will receive ancestry information based on DNA they inherit from both their mother and father. The only piece of information that our service does not directly provide for women is the paternal haplogroup assignment, as this is identified using Y-chromosome DNA that women don’t inherit.
If you are interested in your father’s paternal haplogroup – and it is possible to have a male relative such as your father, brother, paternal uncle or paternal male cousin genotyped – you would be able to infer this information from his assignment.

Due-Diligence

When I considered having my DNA tested, I did my due-diligence and came to the conclusion that 23andMe would be the best choice. I am sure that my decision was well founded. The results not only confirmed what I already knew, but included some real surprises about my Family Tree. Overall I think my money was well invested and I have recommended and will recommend 23andMe to all who ask.

I'm so happy with the service. Thru DNA relatives I was able to confirm surnames in my family tree written by my great great great grandmother going back 7 or 8 generations. Imagine how exciting to find those surnames still amongst my DNA relatives. I've Connected with some cousins and can't wait to share our heritage.
