I have been so excited to learn about my genetic make up. Many things I suspected were an issue for me happen to be truly a genetic issue. For example, I get sick from vitamin D, not the sun, but the vitamins. Some Doctors do not believe me and insist that I take vitamin D. That is dangerous for me. Now I know for sure. Really, all health care should be based on each person's individual genetics. And this is one way for patients to advocate for themselves.

Just not I'm pressed

This has been a big let down and I am no longer impressed with science. Always thought science could figure out anything and be used to be a hundred percent accurate. This felt more like a best guess.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. Providing each and every one of our customers with accurate data is 23andMe's number one priority. We have several quality control steps during the processing and loading of genetic data. The vast majority of the variants on our chip have a 98% or greater call rate, meaning that the chip can provide accurate data for more than 98% of those variants in any particular person. This includes SNPs associated with our specific features.

Not worth the extra money

I was really disappointed with the health reports that came with the extra $100.00. It did not give me any insight and thought I was going to be getting more in-depth analysis of my health. Save your money and just get the Ancestry part if you are going to do it at all.

We found our adopted son's brother using 23andMe

The process was very simple, and the reports were very clear and easy to understand. We were able to find our adopted son's biological brother using the service. Both were separated at a fairly young age in the DRC in Africa. Not only did we find his brother, but they only live a few hours away AND he has the exact some name as our son!

This is an amazing opportunity to find out more about yourself and pass this on to your children and grandchildren. I am 92 and couldn't be happier I received this as a gift from a friend.

Great Information!

I have been interested in learning more about my family history for awhile now. My son gave me the 23andMe DNA kit for my birthday. My first suggestion is to thoroughly read the information in the kit. It tells you exactly what to expect and how long results take. My results came sooner than I expected and I have had so much fun going through them and sharing them with my family. The results are easy to read and gave me so much information I did not expect. I would highly recommend the 23andMe DNA kit!

I was wanting a more precise reports. By saying that I'm Asian doesn't tell me where I came from. The same with I'm English, and not Welsh.

Thank you for your feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.

Your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. As we update our reference data, it will not be uncommon to see slight shifts in your results over time.
