Still better than doing it through GP

My GP was uncomfortable interpreting genetic results and most things aren't covered by my insurance anyway. This is much easier than the way my husband did it even with insurance. Easier and cheaper and comprehensive. My biggest fear was disconfirmed and other things were found that I will discuss with my GP. I'm on the fence as to whether to tell her I had everything tested through 23andMe or just selectively report symptoms. Most of it could be predicted from my family medical history and/or appearance and behavior. However, I'm surprised how often these genetic predispositions pop into my mind. I really like knowing that some of these things traits have a genetic basis whether I see them in myself or not. By the way I want to repeat a quote from the veterinary behaviorist Ian Dunbar. Pet owner: My dog does XXX. Ian: train the dog. Pet owner: but what if it's genetic? Ian Dunbar: train harder! I'm aware of all the issues but decided it was worth it. Although I'm old so the legal protection doesn't matter and my daughter is young so the information will probably be out there by then including my husband's.

I bought this under 3 months ago and it's the best investment I've made this year.

Too much up selling of additional features

Okay I guess. My wife was much more interested in it than I am. The biggest complaint is the constant e-mails to buy more products. Also, when you go to the website to view your results, it is constant buy this and buy that.

They demand registering my credit card for future years. I am fully paid for the first year. They won’t give me results without registering credit card for the future.

You have to pay to upgrade to see any results. Very disappointing and a waste of my time and money.

After paying for this services I learned of other sequencing firms that do more for less. A lot of the most prominent variants are not tested. Make it make sense.

A bit underwhelming

The process of sending in my sample and getting the report was rather seamless. I appreciated the ease of use. However, the report was rather underwhelming. The DNA portion told me less than I already knew about my heritage. I believe it missed an area where many of my relatives were known to come from. The family tree feature is unusable, it mixed up my parents lines and can't be changed.
