It's expensive, but interesting if you can afford!

I enjoyed learning unique things about my DNA variants and matching it up with some of the characteristics that I actually have. And it was good to see some of the potential health issues to keep an eye on. It also matched me up with several distant family members to form a "family tree". The price was expensive, but worth it if you can afford it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Skeptical at first but it surpassed my expectation

My Fam shown Cancer and Parkinsons symptoms so I wanted to plan ahead and be ready for what it may come. Ordered the Kitt and dove into the app and the web page, the waiting process is super easy to go through as they give you step by step of what's happening and the amount of information that unlocks when your results are ready is beyond amazing. You will need several hours/days to go throught the entire set of information super detailed. Be warn that the information given can be truly impactful for people that may have anxiety or that may get depressed and traped in their own minds by negative.thoughts, however the 23andme team allows you to choose what to see amd what not to see. From ancestry background to health conditions to personality traits. In addition they really safeguard your info and there is no crazy "cloning"/"owning" your genetic material clausule in their terms and conditions. I 100% recommend do the investment.

I had been wanting to take a DNA test for a long time. My daughter bought a year subscription for me for Mother’s Day. I have met a cousin I didn’t know I had, a cousin I’ve only seen when she was a baby, and also reunited with a cousin I was close to as a child, before we moved to a different state. They are all first cousins. Learning who I really am made up of, has been interesting. I was always told I was Native American by my mom and grandmother. She would not believe me that she was not N.A. at all. She has believed this for almost 70 years!
There is one thing I am not sure if I can, or how to add great grand parents to my family tree. I think it would be much more informative if it merged family trees with 1st and 2nd cousins, aunts, and uncles. It would be interesting to see where my lineage leads me!

Good for Health but Ethnicity not specific enough

The health benefits of this test are fantastic, especially as an adopted person who had no knowledge of what I had chances of passing down to my children, or illnesses I could have later in life. BUT the DNA ethnicity estimate is not specific enough, as they combine British and Irish together and do not tell you which you are. Culturally this is a huge difference between Celtic heritage and British heritage. I was sad to see such a vastly high percentage but not any definite information on which I was.

Totally Wrong

I do not think the sample tested was mine or the protocol was in error. I was told by my profile I had a 94% chance of NOT being a redhead. I had red hair as well as my brother, cousin in the same generation and, supposedly, out common maternal grandfather.
They also wiffed on my grandmothers, one suspected jewish and one native american.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very complicated- can’t find useful info-UPSALE

Before I even received the details, I got bombarded constantly with dozens and dozens of emails, constantly trying to upsell me on this, that, and the other!! once I finally did get all the information, all I saw was more ways to spend more money, & subscribe to this, and extended membership here, and I literally couldn’t even find the information that I wanted, other than the natural origin, but everything else was so deeply hidden. I’m not even sure what other information is available, and there is so much up-selling I just stopped looking. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
