Received my report about a month past. Interesting but totally leaves out my American Indian heritage. Such verified by both parents and pictures.

I bought this to see if I would be prone to any hereditary deseases. Little did I know that I have had a hereditary intolerance for 50 years, which was revealed with this test. My whole diet was wrong and feeding my nightmarish indigestion - now I've eliminated the intolerance culprit and feeling great.

Great value - get the extended package

I bought the extended package because my daughter is trying for a second child and isn't doing so well. I wondered if we had genetic problems in our history. I'm thrilled to say it came back all negative. She then ordered the package and is waiting on the results. I know that the medical community likes to keep a tight reign on genetic knowledge, but my preference is to check my own background first, and if I need more information; I'll seek out a physician at that time. And really, what's wrong with being proactive about your own health?

I have been putting it off for sometime. It took a heart bypass to give me that kick to get going. Although my results came pretty quick, I was like a kid waiting for that mail order toy to arrive. After a couple of weeks my day started looking for the 23andme.com results to arrive. It was more than expected and I get more out of it each time I go back to review it.

The results of my genetic analysis were intriguing, but I felt like there could have been more specific information about ethnic groups within the geographic regions they use to discuss your genetic heritage. I would have also liked more information on their website regarding how I may not have inherited the various genes of my ancestors, and how this genetic lottery leads to uncertainty about my complete heritage. Instead, I had to migrate my results to other services for further analysis. If I had it to do again, I would have paid for the National Geographic genetic testing, and benefitted from their more nuanced reporting on ethnic origins.
I also found that the extra $100 I paid for genetic health report wasn't worth it. I found benign information regarding whether or not I have a cleft chin, or freckles, but not specific information about various genes and how they correlate with increased or decreased disease risk.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It was easy to do and the results were easy to read. The chart set up is cool. The research that explains why the dna showed the results it did was informative.
