I found my birth mother!

I just wanted to thank you for this service. As an adopted child, I was merely looking to find out my background and where I was from. Which I did....but I also ended up finding a second cousin - and together we found my birth mother! Thank you!

Sister surprise....

I intended to find out more about where my family originate from and compare that what I had already known. I found out that I had nieces and nephews...I didn't have any before! So that meant I must have a sister/brother that I didn't know that I had. After contacting one of the nephews, I confirmed that my parents had a daughter that they gave up for adoption prior to their marriage. Unfortunately, my sister passed away prior to me finding out this missing piece to my life. I am thankful that I now have a much larger extended family. I am a very lucky person and I look forward to meeting them one day in person. Thank you 23andMe.

Mixed results

The most interesting thing I learned was that my husband and I may be distant cousins. Only .48% but it's a little weird since after 61 years of marriage we are just learning this. Gave closure to a cousin's daughter who thought she might have been adopted since she doesn't resemble anyone in our family. She showed up as my first cousin and so that door is now forever closed.

I have bought kits for myself and my family, the information provided by the reports is pretty accurate for what is expected with someone with my known background. It was pretty nice that they phased my parents kits with mine and helped refine the results. One thing that I do find somewhat confusing is that it shows me to be 68% Iberian, while my parents are 39% and 52% (I do know it is a range) other than that seems pretty accurate

Half Canadian, Half Italian

I have received very good Canadian matching results. Italian results have been meager. During my last visit to Italy, I purchased kits for family members; they have sent them in and I am hoping for good results.

I appreciate finding second cousins and so on I never knew I had. Unfortunately, my close relatives whom I'm trying to locate have not done so. So it's been a mystery filling in the family tree.
