I found a 2nd cousin that lives nearby. We met at lunch and he gave me useful information that has helped me a lot. I highly recommend this tool, but you'll need to contact those relatives listed as closest to you in order to get the most out of it.

My son bought this for me as a Father's Day gift and I sent it in. Well I was adopted when I was three years old and the records were sealed. Some of my Cousins came up and I contacted a few of them and some of the questions I had asked were revealed. I have been researching my heritage for about thirty years and always came up with roadblocks after a while it becomes discouraging. After the question I had asked were answered thanks to 23&me I am reuniting with my brother and nieces and nephews after 70 years. This is going to me a very momentous occasion. Thank You!

Thankyou 23 an me this is a life changing experience!!! Hoping to connect with my family is becoming a reality!!! It did take longer because of computer upgrade!!!but,in the next few days i hope to confirm my siblings !!!i have several more people to test !!! An it will bring closers to a 51 year journey!!! With new chapters!! Feeling excited !!!!an blessed!! Thankyou 23 an me!!!

I have found the results interesting and have been able to contact people with whom I share ancestry. I wish you offered the capability to create a family tree. If you do, I am missing the link. I also recommended 23andme to two people, at least one of whom has not yet received an e mail from 23andme.

Gives you broad strokes about where you came from

It's interesting as far as it goes. While it heavily promotes all of the DNA matches this will give you, I'd say few, if any potential relatives actually respond to messages sent to them. Most do the test just to see where they came from. Few are looking to connect. If you're looking to see the countries you came from, this is a good service. If you're looking to connect with potential relatives, it's iffy at best.

I found this to be informative and extremely interesting. When I have time I do the surveys. I have recommended it to family and friends, and bought a test for my daughter. It continues to report news to me.

Found a cousin that was given up for adoption

In 1938 my aunt gave her baby girl up for adoption because she was unwed & not able to support her. She looked for her in later years but was unable to find her. She died without ever finding her daughter. I did my 23andme DNA a year or so ago & one day a month ago, I received a message from a cousin who recognized a surname that I had posted on my listing. As it turns out, this was the daughter of the daughter that was given up for adoption 80 years ago! I was so amazed, surprised, & happy. We have been in touch - texted, emailed each other & talked by FaceTime on the phone. I just wish my aunt were alive to see this happen. Thank you 23andme.com for making this possible.

At first I thought that the results I received were a bit wonky and didn't quite fit. It's good to know that 23andMe keeps updating their results because later I discovered that my results were updated and make complete sense in relation to my Mother's DNA. I haven't gotten my father's DNA yet. Anyways, I love that 23andMe is always working to improve their product and results. It really makes it worth the money for me.
