Not that much information

I was unimpressed with the information provided. I don't need to know if I have the gene for detached earlobes. Nor is it helpful to know that I am likely not bald (even if that were true). Perhaps it would have been different if I had a genetic marker for a disease, but it told me almost nothing I didn't already know. And when it did give me new information, it was still only "likely" or "probably". Not worth the $200 for me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

In ordering I was given a time frame to receive results 6-9 weeks. I mailed back the tube on 11-15 and received results within 3 weeks - very excited and suprised to get results. Would recommend to friends and family...

Both, Ancestry and Health are fantastic!

This is such a wonderful program. Ancestry sections are pretty thorough and give many hints to possible relatives. It also breaks down the different regions that your DNA is pointing toward. The health sections are really interesting. The obvious ones (eye color, hair color, ear lobe attached) are right so the rest are hopefully as accurate. Really like that 23 and Me also are using your DNA (with your consent) for health research.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I found surprising that for my entire life, I thought I had more Italian blood than the 23andMe indicates. My Great Grandfather immigrated from Italy, but I simply assumed that HE was of Italian descent. He may not have been.
The details of the information were very interesting. I ordered 2 kits as Christmas Gifts. I think the recipients will love them!!

The information I was provided after submitting my sample was vague and general. I paid the extra for medical information which didn't seem very helpful. Maybe my expectations were too high so if you are going to spend the $199, keep your expectations low.

This was a wonderful gift. I was adopted, and had almost no knowledge pertaining to things I've wondered forever. It has helped me learn about my traits, lineage and I have already started to meet online possible relatives.
