Great for Finding Relatives

I am very pleased with what this DNA platform offered me. I was able to find out a lot about my DNA and find DNA relatives. I would suggest, though, that the company add more Polynesian, Native American, Egyptian, and other Middle Eastern DNA to compare customers to. Because those DNA speciimens did not show up on my 23andMe results, but they did elsewhere, using the same raw DNA processed by 23nadMe. Otherwise, I was thrilled with my results!

I was introduced to 23andMe by my daughter. I was curious about my heritage and needed confirmation on what I thought I already knew. I was surprised that 23andMe was able to identify all the nationality's and then some. I was very much pleased with the results .

Amazing value and insight on my family ancestry!

I've always been curious and fascinated by studying genetics. This company has opened my eyes to so much. Just learning about where my family came from is interesting. I really like how you can see the data and percentages of relationship to other 23&me participants. We are more connected that I ever thought. It's really cool to have the ability to share information and find family members. My 5th cousin found me and it's fun getting to know her and just the similarities we have in common - likes and interests. The messaging feature works, but it could be better. There seems to be a delay and the notifications don't alert you right away. But, my experience thus far has been great.

Learning so much about myself

I was given 23andme as a gift, well it has been the BEST gift I have ever gotten. All my life I thought I was Polish and Italian only.....guess again!!!! I am so much more. Next I will try the health end of 23andme. So exciting!!!!

My Parents are both gone, so I asked my Brother to do this with me and I found it absolutely fascinating. I have learned so much and think everyone should do it! I have been able to find long lost cousins, and my Mother's side was related to Marie Antoinette, pretty cool, huh?

My daughter purchased the DNA kit for us. She and a brother had already completed the test and were very satisfied. She knew my wife and I had been searching for a son by my previous marriage, without success. My wife and I completed the test, and the missing son did not show up....in the meantime,
another son had taken the DNA test with a competitor, and a sibling showed there. They communicated, and it turned out to be the missing son, in Virginia...but, on my 23andme test, a granddaughter appeared. I sent several messages, but received no answer for about three months. She had been adopted at birth, knew she was adopted, knew her birth parents names, and the fact that both birth parents were deceased. She was looking for extended family. She was unsure how we connected, as was I. In subsequent messages, she gave me the names, and I called my 'missing' son asked if he was familiar with either.......he and the mother had dated thru high school, and the 'father' was his best friend thru school. My 'missing' son had joined the Air Force after high school, and had gone overseas, not knowing his girl friend was pregnant.. My remarks to him were, congratulations, Dad, you have another daughter......he replied, I'll call you back, I gotta call my wife right now ! Subsequently, he and the daughter have texted, my daughter, the missing son, his wife, and his son did share 'face' time one evening, but we aren't certain how or when we can arrange to meet the new granddaughter, as she is in North California.....there's lots more to this story. I'd like to thank the 23andme organization for pulling this together .

Sometimes you find out more than you expect

I did not expect to much when I first took the test. I have since unveiled first and second cousins across the world and found that my grandfather had a child during WWII. Unbelievable!! It took a lot of investigating but this test helped to uncover secrets that no one even knew about!
