The 23& Me has given me hope to find and hopefully locate my biological family. I feel that with this new information given to people to find out so much of where they came from and there ancestors. It gives people the freedom to look into themselves honestly with out the colored information we all grew up with. Though sometimes the truth is not what we thought or what we expected it to be.

All we saw on TV was 23andme, but when I received my results, I was highly disappointed ! My ancestry cannot be 55% British when my brother, that is proven to be my brother, is only 20%. We, and two sisters are 33-38% Scandinavian, an average total of 40% Irish, Scottish, Spanish, French, German and African. So how can we be over 50% British. They do not define their results at all. Sorry.

Thank you for your feedback. Full siblings share approximately 50% of their DNA. The randomness of DNA transmission across generations results in differences in ancestry, health, and the amount of DNA shared with other relatives. While your results are expected to resemble your sibling's, it is not unusual for there to be variations between them.
Evidence of your brother's British/Irish ancestry would likely be reflected within the Broadly Northwestern European reference population. If you have questions about your results, contact our Customer Care Team. Submit a request here: https://23and.me/CCRequest

I brought this kit several years ago, and a year ago brought kits for my Mother and Sister and they were very pleased with their Ancestry results.

I'm writing this review for my father. He wanted to try out 23andMe, because he was curious what his DNA would show. He's 97 years old and bed bound. He can't walk but his mind is still somewhat sharp. We are disappointed that the Health related info was not included in the analysis of his DNA. My wife was offered both ancestry info as well as health related information. Does it really make a difference, if an extremely distant relative is found? If the only connection you have shares a family member from four or five generations ago, neither one of you will be interested. And, if the closest "connection" you have with your Eastern European/Balkan DNA results is found in a participant whose DNA originated somewhere far away, like Ireland or Wales, it's not going to be of any practical use either. In my father's case, there are no 2nd generation relations that we are aware of except a couple of cousins here in the U.S. Since he is almost 98 years old, all of his Aunts, Uncles and 1st Cousins are deceased. I would have preferred only the health related DNA analysis. The Ancestry portion for him and my siblings and I are, for the most part, inconsequential at best.
